Your mother is less than 55 hence she also needs the DS157. She is a housewife hence she does not need the DS158.

its very simple processure visit the commissioner office and request them for visa extension and they will tell you the exact processure. note you can extend your baby visa for up to 100 years.
Note: if you are indian citizen and ur baby holding US passport then you are eligible to apply PIO card with this card your baby can
live in india as long as she/he want without extending visa and ...

Your mother may want to visit...but it is up to the
consulate whether she can or cannot come.
Unless you can show some significant change in circumstances DO NOT apply right away and risk another rejection.
Senators cannot really help or influence the process.
It would be a good idea to have your in-laws/wife's parents try for a visa instead. It would be a fresh application and so there...
