How many citizenships can one hold?
Published (2009-12-09 15:44:00)
You can be a citizen of as many countries as you want (if all of them allow multiple citizenships), but inside the US, only your US citizenship will be recognized. Also, if you are not a US citizen, then it will recognize the citizenship of that country which passport you used to enter the US. In your case, your legal citizenship in the USA will be that of the country listed on the GC.

Thanks for that. When I become an US citizen and I decide to travel to my own country and purchase my ticket back to the US and use my old country's passport to come back into the states. Would I be viewed as being an US citizen still or other? How would the law operate if something happens to me in that situation?

No Entry Stamp on US Passport
Published (2009-12-05 04:21:00)
This dude has tonnes of US entry stamps in his US passports. So, I would not say it is highly unusual for Americans to get stamped by US CBP agents when entering by air. By land or by sea - usually no stamps.

Renewal of Indian Passport

You cannot renew your Indian passport in a foreign country if you are not living there on a long term visa. Since you are on a visitor visa, Indian consulate will not renew your passport.

The issuing agency - Department of State - provides all the information on the passport card. Here is about the difference: http://travel.state.gov/pdf/ppt_pptCard.pdf I would suggest to spend extra $20 and get both passport book and passport card.

I am a US citizen and I noticed my US passport does not have an entry stamp when I came back from Pakistan to JFK (New York) from a trip. The US immigration officer did not stamp my passport upon entry into JFK. I am planning another trip this year with the same passport. Will this be an issue? Anyone else experienced the same situation and then traveled back with no problem. Thanks.

I don't know what you'd do if you have two different names. Normally the procedure is this: At check in: show the passport you will use to enter your destination. So flying from Mexico to the US you will show your US passport. At exit control (if any): show the passport you used to enter the country. If you are a national of the country there may be laws requiring to use that country's ...
