How do you replace a 8800GT?

Im gona hold onto my alpfa dog card for a little longer. . . 1 - to save up enough, 2 - incase something really spectacular pops up on the graphics market. But one thing is for sure, the xfx alfa dog xxx 8800gt was one of the best cards ever made.

Because the 5850 is 30-50% faster in every title. ATI is far and away the better manufacturer at the moment.

Quoting geotopia The WinDAS documentation is extremely poor and little things necessary to get up and running are entirely left out or are so poorly implemented in the software that it's hit and miss. Good luck! I should clarify, the forum threads and the third party instructions are GREAT, but the Sony documentation is piss poor. Glad they made the utility so we can revive and perfect our Trinitrons, but they didn't spend much time...

Refresh rate problem with HD5850
Published (2009-12-16 21:16:00)
Back with a fresh install on a different HDD, same problem, though this time I was able to use a program to modify the A90 drivers to accept 1280x1024 @ 85Hz. I still have to do the ghetto swap (start the computer with the A90, get the settings to 1280x1024 75Hz, then hot swap in the good monitor) but now I am running at the resolution and frequency I want. Also, after getting back in touch with AMD over this issue, they say it now may just be...

There's no compelling reason to stick with NVIDIA at your price range. ATI is leagues beyond NVIDIA in performance right now.

Quoting Draike **SIGH** Thats what my lan buddies tell me. I guess if 100 people say ATI and 5 say nvidia, then its settled. SON, I AM DISAPPOINT. lmfao Thanks guys - will probably go for the suggested 5850. Just to make your decision easier, another ATI endorsement here.

I have indeed gotten it to work... I've been fooling around with Arkham Asylum running HD5850+GTX285 or 9600GT. I've got an article about it coming eventually, but first I want to play through the game again running with PhysX off in order to compare the gameplay. Long story short on the installation: Download this patch Install Forceware 195.62, reboot into safe mode Run patch ...

I've got a pair of Sony GDM-C520 monitors with the the following problems... One of the is way too bright, even with the brightness control all the way to zero, and it has horizontal greenish scanning lines going from top to bottom, side to side. This one has a strong blue background. The colors looked washed out at start, but when the picture tube warms up, the colors depth goes back to ...

Both of those models have comparably poor color and contrast ratings compared to other 24" displays which fit the criterion you have outlined. I strongly suggest you take a look at the Lacie 324, HP LP2480zx, Fujitsu-Siemens SCENICVIEW P24W-5 ECO or the Samsung Syncmaster F2380M (in order of quality). These are all IPS, C-PVA or S-PVA panels with exceptionally high contrast and color quality. ...

Curious to know if you can run GPU2 at these speeds. I can game and stress test for days on end at ~1035/1200, but can't fold at anything higher than ~900/1100 without getting EUEs after a few units, regardless of voltage.

The increased RAM will definitely help your system cope with more modern games. Vista basically needs a minimum of 4GB to make gaming hiccup-free. As for graphics suggestions, I'd advise you to look into a Radeon 5750 or 5770, whichever seems more affordable. They're part of ATI's newest generation of cards, and so will give you DirectX 11 support and pretty good bang for your buck. ...
