You won't find much love for BT's retail services on this forum and O2's should be better because they are more flexible with better usage allowances than BT, not to mention offering better performance (usually). Be aware that if you can only get O2's Home Access product then that is a bit weaker. Either way, should you decide to go with BT's offer, I would still ring O2 to make sure everything is cancelled just to be...

If you have an old BT line going to your address, then Talk Talk or Sky may handle the reactivation. I'm 99% sure that Talk Talk will, but you may have to contact Sky to see what they might do. In either case, a fee might be payable, best to enquire with both to double check.

Wandered if anyone could tell me what my position is at the moment, ive just requested that i sign up with 02 after been with aol, Id not remembered to ask for a mac code, and 02 now say that they need it, however i may of changed my mind as BT have just sent me an offer at £7.99 per month, for 10mb broadband which sounds a better deal, was wandering what people thought was the better offer, and if i can just not give 02 the mac code, and...

Assuming Sky or TalkTalk cover your area with their fully unbundled services (check with only your phone number here [don't put in a postcode] http://www.ispreview.co.uk/checker/ ) then you should be able to get Sky to TT to handle the line rental separate from BT. Your choices would of course increase if you used BT but they are rather crafty and like locking people into long contracts, which can limit choices too.

As long as you haven't agreed to a contract with 02, then you are not bound to go with them, so just contact them and say you have changed your mind.

am currently with Virgin for tel, BB and TV but would like to join somebody else for wireless BB.
Are any other ISP willing to take on non BT line customers or will i have to switch over to BT to get a choice?

If you post the line stats from your router it will be a better indication, some of the data from the line checkers isnt fantastic and shouldn't be taken as definate.

That is actually a very bizarre situation because it should be the other way around. O2's BT based Home Access package uses traffic management, though this is usually designed to give other services (web, email etc.) a boost while penalising P2P bandwidth during peak usage times.
On the other hand it might be that the P2P client you use is masking its activity with encryption, thus the ISP ...

If the ISP claims it is not them then I suspect that mailchimp has blocked an IP range of Bolivian addresses from being able to access their site, perhaps because one of your fellow users abused it to send SPAM or something like that.
You could also try accessing it via a service like this:
http://anonymouse.org/
I'm not sure if it would help, depends on the level of their "block", ...

Same here, no mail on an SMTP service since yesterday. Phone lines on answer only, cant even leave a message. Homepage was updated this morning with an explaination of migration of mail servers.
After years of reliable service (including being able to speak to a person) since being taken over by Breathe Networks we've had two major issues in a couple of months. Interesting to remember the...

Entanet based ISPs seem a bit hit and miss right now but for that price point and set of requirements your options are a bit limited. If you're prepared to go a bit higher to £25 then you can select from the likes of IDNet, Zen, Fast.co.uk and ICUK, although they may not be as flexible.
I guess at least with an Entanet based ADSL24 package then the contract period is short so if you don't ...
