I agree. Contention is now somewhat more dynamic under current services so it would be good to see just how 'shared' services really are by publishing such data. I'm not sure how easy or hard that would be to do though, especially since it could cary between different locations.

Thank you for the feedback Martin and Mark. I am goin to discuss BE Unlimited and Aquiss with my flat mates and hopefully come to a conclusion soon. I would like to just say that i think it is a very good idea for companies, such as Aquiss, to use representitives on forums like these. So thank you Martin for taking time out to answer my quetion. It has alreaady made me feel strongly about choosing Aquiss as my ISP, so Well Done!

Hi, o2 is my current home provider for broadband, i have unlimited that seems only thing which is true, the peak time hours are ridiculouse, basically all the time. I have spent hours on phone talking to them, they said i would have till wait till next year when they improve their bandwidth allowance. So i need your help for a new isp! My exchange is http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/LCPEN Im looking for an isp with unlimited...

It is a little hard to assist until you have a more accurate idea of service coverage. One thing to avoid is obviously any service with a 12 month+ contract term, so ideally you'll be looking at 3 or 1 month contracts. If you can get it (coverage) then Be Broadband are offering a good range of flexible faster broadband services with special 3 month contract options for students. Their budget...

True unlimited usage is going to be a bit difficult to achieve in a BT only area, although PlusNet might be able to help. Entanet vISP's like ADSL24 also have some good usage allowance levels. However both providers seem to suffer from a few performance woes at the moment. If you want quality then IDNet, Zen, Fast.co.uk and ICUK should be considered but don't expect to find unlimited usage ...

I'm guessing you're on O2's somewhat weak 'Home Access' package then because your exchange does not support their stronger unbundled services? However if you have a Sky TV service then I'd recommend the Sky Broadband Unlimited package. I'm reluctant to recommend TalkTalk outright, they also cover your area but performance can be a little flaky depending on how lucky you are (the Pro package might...

At the risk of stating the obvious - scrounge another router, use it for about a fortnight or so, and see if you still get the problem. I occasionally get the "noise on voice line" problem with my router - a Zyxel, not a Netgear. Mine is an old-style fixed 2Mb line, not an "up to 8Mb" line, so there's none of this nonsense with resetting profiles, my speed remains unaffected, and I haven't ...

Plenty of ISPs offer a static IP connection, although in terms of a connection "optimized" for uploading I'm not quite sure what you mean. I guess you would require an ADSL2+ (24Mbps) supporting service with faster uploads in the 1Mbps+ range, assuming this is supported by your chosen ISP and telephone exchange. Business packages from IDNet, Zen and NewNet are probably more what you are ...

You're more or less correct, although these days ADSLMAX (up to 8Mbps) is the standard so it doesn't technically cost more, if anything MAX services cost less . In regards to the last two, 21CN PSTN means your exchange has been upgraded to support BT's latest IP based technology, while WBC hints that you will not be able to get faster than 8Mbps services (e.g. up to 24Mbps via ADSL2+) until ...

Provided you can get O2's unbundled broadband packages, which includes their Pro, Premium and Standard options, then you should be happy. Most of the reviews are made by customers of O2's Home Access package, which is BT based and not very well liked. In regards to speed, that is a bit more difficult. You can stick a postcode in but that will be based off the entire street/area and is often ...

Hi, It is perfectly normal for the SNR margin to fluctuate a bit thats why it isnt set at 1-3db which would get you faster speeds, the profiles are 6db 9db 12 db and 15db all with or without interleaving.
