The imposition of Traffic Management doesn't just occur on "the usual suspect(s)" of P2P, in fact a number of ISPs deploy it to help restrict traffic to just about everything from multiplayer gaming to FTP and newsgroups etc. However while some ISPs, such as PlusNet, will at least tell you precisely which services will be throttled and sometimes at what times, others will merely promote a vague Fair Usage Policy (FUP)...

I wouldn't be surprised to see retailers bundling free Firefox/Opera/etc CDs with copies of Windows 7.

Given some of the messed-up machines that I've sorted out, I can't disagree with that either! In one case, almost every time I visit the fellow (about once a month), he's managed to get some new nasty on his PC - because although he's got the message himself, and is duly cautious, his blasted thick and couldn't-care-less girlfriend will click anything that looks "interesting". This statement sums the whole thing up Quote: Our investigation has shown that there are no by-design uses for this ActiveX Control in Internet Explorer which includes all of the Class Identifiers within the msvidctl.dll that hosts this ActiveX Control I also assume Vista and 2008 and widows 7 will also have issues if IE isn't running in restricted mode, hence why they ask you to remove it.

I have been with AAISP (ANDREWS & ARNOLD) for 12 months & everything is excellent. They have a very short Peak period (8am-6pm Mon-Fri) which means that if you do major downloads after 6pm or at weekends, they are excellent. Virtually no slowdowns at any time & near 100% reliable for £17.57 per month. Other consistently good ISPs are: ICUK , IDNET , FAST.CO.UK , NEWNET , UKFSN & VISPA . Have fun checking them...
