As far as the BT forum is concerned, BT's "answer" to the problem appears to be their usual one - "We don't really have an answer, so let's just delete the whole thread". Unless it's been hidden somewhere that I can't find, they haven't just edited it, they haven't just locked it - it seems to be gone completely. Well, I suppose that's one way to stop your customers...

You do need a licence for Internet simulcast, and since TV Licensing enforce by using their address database how long will it be before they request the government to get the names and addresses of ISP's broadband users ? In some ways the Internet is the future of broadcasting and this is the BBC's preemptive attempt to make sure people can't ditch their TVs and escape the licence fee.

and in more less technical wording, they are trying to have their cake and eat it... the way l see it they aren't a business who future proofs itself, they are shareholder driven, a recent post about the planning of the next gen network funding sounded like it would be pulled due to their current economic situation, well while l agree the economy is shot (thanks to our current governments inability to do things properly things will get...

I don't think it will, but even if it does it won't make much difference. After all, how many people own a PC / Broadband but not a TV? And I doubt the govt will allow the BBC to charge companies for their internet access, since many actively block sites & protocols for video streaming. It would get very complicated anyway. My own company proxies all internet traffic via Germany, which means I can't access BBC tv clips -...

It will go ahead. It won't be an extra licence. It will simply mean that anyone with a computer and internet connection will have to obtain a TV licence even if they don't own a TV, video recorder, or DVD recorder. It has been discussed for the last couple of years, and when the BBC started putting TV programs on the net that had been on TV already, the government said that it wasn't enough justification. Once they are showing...

Since both polls seem to have been hit by a bug on the forum allowing unregistered to vote this is going to be an easy poll. After all that you have read about Phorm/Webwise and looking at the form BT were planing on using to gain informed consent to allow a third party company place layer7 equipment at the network level to harvest every website you visit to deliver advertisements.
