Thanks for the answers. The situation gets a bit more complex because the company I´m working for doesn´t have any "customer". The Company produces a piece of specialdesigned "metaljunk" and then ask their customer if they would like to buy our brand new special designed metaljunk.... As the PPAP- manual is written for primarly automotive companies, I guess it´s OK to make some changes in those parts...

Check the customer specific requirements, PO, SOW, it's likely hiding in there somewhere. Also, if we step back from "lawyering" the standards, if it was my company I'd want to make sure all cavities, molds, tools, whatever were OK before I shipped to my customer, and I wouldn't disagree...

My advices, If something in your case is unclear or illogical contact your customer. Explain him the situation regarding to significant production run. You have to perform dimensional results for all characteristics on the design record and make a decision if the results are OK/NOT OK. If your product is made in different production lines you have to make PSW+ dimensional measurement + performance test results + material test results for every...

Most people only need the IMDS number (to be provided on warrant) generated from the...

Along with the Partcell!!!
Another good resource that is fairly inexpensive is an add on for Microsoft Excel and it is called Q1 Macros, this can be found on the web at qimacros-dot-com, it is primarily used for various SPC functions but also the product has AIAG forms included!!!!, Try the Demo first.

It al depends on the company, I suppose. However two big pain points I see is companies don't fully understand the process, and companies trying to go through the motions to meet some customer mandate (more in regards to PPAP however).
Many of the companies I work with don't design, so they are not sure how APQP applies to them. They think it really doesn't, so they ignore it.

1. If the distributor doesn't ask for a PPAP submission, don't confuse the issue by sending them one. Wait until they *request* one.
2. Yes. You can use their Purchase Orders or Delivery requests as proof of approval.
