Our Media Center product can do that. It's under Player/Playback Options/Zone Manager. I don't believe that MJ has zones, but check the same place.

In my experience the integrated sound chips, although frequently having multiple available outputs (eg. S/PDIF, Analog, etc.), will only be available as a single device/output to Windows--and therefore MC. I'm pretty sure that if you want to get into zones, you'll have to add a separate sound card, which should then allow you to use the

In the Output Mode Settings have you selected "Open Device For Exclusive Access"? It should be selected. On my Tascam US-122L (similar to the Emu) I can use WASAPI and am not able to change the volume in Vista. I can slide the volume control, but it has no effect. I didn't think that the Emu 0404 USB had
Vista drivers. However, even if they do they might not have implemented WASAPI ...

have you tried to switch between
direct sound, wave etc? are all dsp's disabled? does it also happen when using the analoge outputs from the card? just some ideas to test. gab
