Xbox 360 v. PS3
Published (2009-11-30 21:22:00)
As someone who's owned both consoles I'll throw in an enthusiastic vote for the PS3 Basically the only reason I see to get a 360 is if you really want either Halo or Gears. If you don't care about those games (and in my opinion the PS3 has much better exclusives anyways) then definitely go with the PS3, the commercials are pretty accurate when they say 'it only does everything' I've got mine running Linux or...

Xbox 360 v. PS3

Thanks. There isn't anything specific I'm looking for regarding "franchise" titles. I can live without Halo. Any reason not to support Microsoft is good with me. Teflon, what do you mean by needing a disc in the PS3 for Netflix movies? I do need the wireless feature to stream their instant play catalogue. Are you saying a disc is needed even for this?

Xbox 360 v. PS3

In addition to the Slim being practically silent (from everything I've read), it does Blu Ray too, which for movies is another big one up over the 360. Then there's the wireless built in, if its needed to connect to the network. The only downside is that for Netflix you need a disk in the PS3, but not in the 360. Though from what I've read, that's a non-issue, really, since the disk everything is just as fast on either...

Well, are there any specific things you're looking for (they both do Netflix)? I've got a PS3 and 360 Elite... I'd say PS3 all the way unless there's some specific thing you're after that the 360 would be better for. Especially if the primary purpose is movie-watching; the 360's disc drive is noisy as hell, and even without a disc it still emits a very audible low hum at all times that can...

If you want a BluRay player, hold on to it, if you don't and can sell it at near-retail on EBay, do that. I'd consider using it as a HTPC even if you aren't interested in playing games on it, if you see value in that.

It's not worth explaining since everyone should really understand what you mean by it. Case in point, you're facing someone, and you say turn left, so they turn left, but you meant left from your point of view. There's several options to what you can say next: "Sorry, I meant right." "No, the other left!" and "Argh! the other way!" are probably the three most common, but really it's just ...

Just got around to watching Cloverfield. I am glad I waited to watch it on DVD, because the jigglycam would have made my wife sick (like we both suspected from the trailer) and watching it on TV was just fine. Gotta say, I really liked the movie. Probably wouldn't watch it again, but it was a very effective big monster/horror movie.
