Yes, Boromir says that when he is trying to persuade the Council to keep the Ring and use it against Sauron. He is exaggerating. Boromir: One does not simply walk into Mordor. It's black gates are guarded by more than just orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep. The great eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire, ash, and dust. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could...

Enlighten me. What is it that I'm not getting? Was your entire post a massive satire? I'm really hoping that is the case. Also... you're calling my post a piece of poo that has "a wavy surface, edge, or markings". You do know that, yes? Witty closing remarks have been replaced by massive head trauma and severe hemorrhaging.

Third-Age-Mage got it - Boromir is kinda exaggerating. However, it is a noxious fume. Sam and Frodo feel awful as they cross Mordor. Sick, and parched and worn out. There were other factors involved too, but the plains of Gorgoroth are very harsh. You should also note that Sauron's minions, though evil, still needed food, water and air. The New World fell not to a sword but to a meme.

How does sam stay fat?

Sam was in his late 30s. Bilbo was 50. Neither were young to warrant "thin-ness". Late 30's in hobbit years would be mid-20's in human years, whereas 50 in hobbit years would be about 32 in human years. That could make a difference. Besides I don't think it's necessary to go by Tolkien's drawing, just so long as, like you said, they're depicted in a way that isn't contradictory to text....

Legolas. I love his long blonde hair and his blue eyes.
He is so hot, I just love him.
Don't get me wrong, Aragorn is pretty hot himself. He's just not Legolas...

I think, with that line, Eowyn is trying to steal Legolas' "Captain Obvious" crown.

Yeah, the Aragorn aknowleging that, whithout the hobbits (specially Frodo and Sam), the outcome would have been very different is really touching.
I get the chills when Eomer screams, runs towards and hugs Eowyn, whom he believes to be dead, and when he is watching her being healed by Aragorn, thinking: "Please, PLEASE, don't you die!"; I found his grief and disbelief utterly convincing, and I...

They basically went to "the other lands", a sort of spirit world meant only for elves and their very special friends. It's based on the Celtic legends of a land beyond the western sea, which was the home of the Gods and other supernatural beings. Frodo got there by sailing west, but it was part of another world, not just another continent like North America.
You can read about it in the ...

The best answer would be: the Ring itself.
Isildur, the guy from the first film, fled into the river whilst wearing the Ring. It slipped from his finger, and Orcs killed him.

When third age ended all half elves choose between mortality or immortality. Elves that desided to stay at middle earth loosed immortality. It did not matter what the reason was. I think it was Valar that took immortality away leaving only mortal "part".

Now, now, be grateful for the existence of "Twilight" and its fans.
Because of it all the dumbest, least stable fangurls have left all the other fandoms, and are flocking together in one place, bothering no-one but themselves.

Well, technically Gollum is a villain, but It's a deep and great character, lovely sometimes but hateble almost all the time. In the end, If it wouldn't have been for him, the Ring wouldn't have been destroyed, so at the end he was unintentionally the "hero".

Sauron would have seen a bunch of giant eagles coming a mile away and filled them full of arrows. Also, the eagles refused to help fight Sauron directly. See, Elrond had that idea long before you did and he asked them... It's addressed in the book which you would know if you had read the book.
You actually think they could have covered the entire story of Lord of the Rings in two hours? ...
