Noticing more of the little things (especially those cloying little symbols) won't help a film that is fundamentally flawed. Yes! I was just complaining about the blatantly obvious hummingbird motif on another thread!

Benjamin Button is the clock maker's wish come true, but by the end of the film you realize aging in reverse would be just as bad, if not worse. Time will always take everything away.

I'll have to disagree about Pitt not having enough depth. See The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, probably his finest performance of his career. A haunting performance.

Can someone tell me if Elias Koteas' Cajun accent (as mr. Gateau) was any good?

I wish it ended as soon as it started it was absolute guff. And anyone who thinks otherwise is a gay!

All it seemed to be was a metaphor for benjamin's life (going backwards-OBVIOUSLY), there was no real significance to him literally. Many parts of the movie were disappointing and this was one of them.
