OFFICE SHOOTOUT...

I wouldn't go as far as to call it the 'best I'd ever seen', but yeah it was ok. It really bugged me though how crap a shot those SWAT members were. Max manages to just slip out within the line of fire, grab the document and then just run for it whilst he's getting shot out. Like I said it was ok, but they could have done more with it to at least make it look convincing. The movie in general just...could have been so...

I thought Final Fantasy Advent Children was a fantastic movie- does that count, or are we only talking about live action movies based on video games?

OFFICE SHOOTOUT...

...one of the best shootouts I've ever f_cking seen. I watch the movie probably once a month just for that shootout. Shootouts in film (1-5) 1. Collateral (Fever Club shootout) 2. The Boondock Saints 1+2 (every shootout in both movies) 3. Miami Vice 2006 (climax and ending shootout) 4. Smokin' Aces (climax in hotel lobby with .50 caliber sniper) 5. Max Payne (see above)

So, along that theory, the drug makes you psychic? How would you know your death was impending otherwise? Maybe, the angels are real and the drug allows you to see them. The gene pool could use a little chlorine......

Why does everyone hate this...

OK.....it wasn't the best movie ever made but it really wasn't that bad either. People are all judging this based on the fact that it was nothing like the game but in reality it's a descent movie with an interesting story and some fairly good action scenes.

The real problem with this movie...

I think you hit it on the head. They could've went more into the Valkyr drug. The supernatural aspect was totally un-needed. Plus, like you said, Max was written in a way that we never really felt for him. That was a big part of the game. The game was very effective in sucking you in and making you feel for Max. It was compelling storytelling at its finest. And I hope I'm not sounding too much like a video game purist, but the story...

Same as with every adaptation, most of the fans didn't like or even understand the seemingly unnecessary changes to the story. For example, giving Max a desk job instead of having him as an undercover DEA agent, or changing Lupino from a crazed believer in the occult to a failed super-soldier experiment. Like, if you want a movie about a detective going after a super soldier, that's awesome. But don't call it Max Payne, because...

I would have to say " Southland Tales" For some reason this movie fascinates me, I understated the negativity this movie receives because in reality it is a mess of a movie, but I guess I like it because it's an ambitous mess and the fact that Richard Kelly had the audacity to release something so absurd and chaotic.
Another one would be Cyborg. I don't know why but every late night it comes ...

I agree.
Later in the movie we find out the angels are mental manifestations but that doesn't explain Natasha being ripped apart.
