that mutant dog fight WAS gritty fer sure. that, and hulk beating tanks up with each other was pretty cool too. My Movie Site takatomon2000.googlepages.com/takatomonsmoviepages

I found it to be actually quite atmospheric. The only thing remember not liking is when they shoot the space ship and it just literally disappears after a puff of smoke. I think it just suffers from cheap effects and a low budget.

Oh, I don't doubt it was reported since such things have been popular since the days of William Castle, I just don't recall hearing it associated with this film back in '79. ||||||||||||||| ||||| | |||

Mutant Chronicles (2008)

I found it mildly enjoyable. There were some really good parts. But as a fan of the old tabletop roleplaying game, board game, and miniature game I found the extremely odd and seemingly pointless liberties taken with the setting. I understand not everything can translate to the big screen, but they really changed some major stuff for seemingly no reason. In fact, often it seems like it would have been easier (and more logical) if they'd...

How could "SyFy" have anything to do with this film? It has everything the morons at syfy refuse to show. Its got competent direction, effects that don't look like cartoon characters, actors that can actually act, an interesting story and characters and is actually entertaining. If this is in fact a "SyFy original movie", you can be sure the person responsible for this film was swiftly fired and forever...

I'd shudder to watch what anyone here could make on that film's miniscule budget! It had interesting dialog and great atmosphere. I do not believe it came from a stage play.

Controversial sci-fi movies

Can anyone think of any science-fiction films that perhaps upset the moral guardians, or offended anyone in the slightest? There are plenty of horror films, gangster films, action films and such, but not many sci-fi movies come to mind besides the few below. Contamination & Xtro - Both wound up on the video nasties list in the UK. They are now available (the former uncut) on DVD rated 15. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace -...

"Plan 9 from Outer Space" 1st - you can't make anything that would be worse than original (I mean it's values as a horror, action, sci-fi movie) 2nd - the story was actually a bit more clever than most of the crap that comes out now. Really wouldn't we like to see aliens in Trek-like shiny, sterile star ships who would decide that people are threat to the galaxy and should be wiped out and for that purpose...

Clockwork Orange for its graphic depiction of violence.

8/10 westworld is one of a VERY FEW 1970s SF films that was any good and had actual production values. it also has a compelling story. it was a childhood favorite and STILL holds up pretty well. yul brenner makes for a good villain.
future world ? 3/10 what's to say? it's just a crappy sequel trying to cash in on the original and is similar to logans run in style. i haven't seen it in a ...

curses! another "cable TV" thread with titles i've never seen, and i HAVE tried to see every SF film i could my entire life. any time i DO come across a title i know, someone else beats me to the punch answering too.
SOME elements in the first title are also in the animated film dead space , but the arriving ship is too late in that one and about to fall victim too. anyways, here's a trailer...

"Can't say I like the dialogue or the acting however."
The problem with Bava was he used actors of different nationalities and they spoke the parts in their language. One spoke english, one Italian and another spanish etc.Later to be sound edited.
Thats what gives it the feel of bad acting.
But excellent film however.
Great atmosphere. Its my opinion this film in particular along with "Queen...

I do prefer my characters to be more flawed. I've always found the strong jawed, always right guy to be boring and a bit annoying. Especially because half the time I think he's wrong. It's one of the reasons that for a long time I always preferred villains. They were generally more interesting people, with believable motivations...and they were usually right. Sometimes they were a little ...

I liked Infestation, but I'm not sure it's as good as other films of it's ilk.
In particular, I loved the ending.

Right! Alien : horror. Aliens : action.
You should have figured that out sooner.
Also, Ridley did NOT create the monster (unless you're referring to how he directed the movie).

Hulk 7/10 - it gets really muddled at the end with banner's father being an over the top ridiculous villain, but the movies DOES have awesome action sequences, even better than the reboot i think and once you realize all those trippy visual effects are an attempt to mimic the look of comic books, it deserves props for it's artistry. i really liked the bit where banner sees hulk in the bathroom ...
