Wo, Wo, Wwwoooooooo...I don't know, it's a dam good film, BUT(the big but) their are some great to very good Sci-fi films from the 80's. Some movies I personally would clearly say are superior other than the ones you identified are: The Empire Strikes Back Escape From New York The Road Warrior Predator The Thing The Fly Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan The second tier of movies that are in the same class: Superman II Blade...

Especially, a beholder who is intoxicated at the time of viewing. Of course, it's all relative and subjective, but this one just didn't do much for me. Plus, I have a bias against Cinetel and Lisa Hansen in particular, but that's just me. It was a real shame that it was Davis' last, too, as you point out. ||||||||||||||| ||||| | |||

"Sorry, but it's just more dreck from Cinetel that follows the same formula they used for half a dozen other films over the last several years" This may be true, however dreck is in the eye of the beholder.Especially, a beholder who is intoxicated at the time of viewing. Seriously, yes-syfy dreck yes-low budget trash yes-a worn out formula But this was fun to watch. To each his own.....just ask our very own Tako.He has a...

Okay are you ready for this - FUTURISTIC HANDICAPPED WHEELCHAIRS! I'm not kidding, think Davros from Doctor Who, Christopher Pike from Star Trek, the guy in Millennium, all the guys that are human from the head down, where they become mobile life support systems. Inever realized how many movies had these, it's never been discussed in the 9 years i've been here and could make an interesting gallery. How many can you name? Note to...

i was so looking forward to that film when it came out after being such a big william gibson fan for more then a decade at that time. ugh you could see the great ideas still threaded throughout it but the execution was terrible.

Yeah. I dislike a lot about Final Frontier, but I like some of the character moments. I hate almost everything about Generations and Nemesis. I think a couple points come from the cast being in a movie, more than the movie itself. They're really probably closer to 2 star films for me. I really, really hate Nemesis. I'd rather watch Voyager, and I think Voyager is one of the worst science fiction TV shows to ever see the light of day....

I checked out the trailer for this movie and must say it looks pretty good for a B movie and yes I thought of The Thing and The Abyss also.
A warning, if you or anyone else for that matter have not seen Alien v.s. Hunter(2007), please steer clear of that garbage. One of the worst movies I have ever seen, as I felt prison gang raped thinking of the money I spent renting on that turkey!

I hope it happens. He's been attached to several projects that have fallen through. And this is a property that has been in development hell for a long time (think I heard about plans to make it back in the early 90s and numerous times over the years since). I love the books, and think they'd make a great film series. Plus, it would be nice to see them reintroduced to a whole new generation ...

Oddy enough, at the end of The Black Hole going through a wormhole is surprising like going to Heaven or Hell. Here's the scene:

For me the the funniest part is from the original Star Wars. One of the admirals is all orgasmic about the power of the Death Star and tells Darth Vader how his sad devotion to the Force is unable to conjure up the resistance and at that point Vader goes all mid evil on his as# and basically pimp slaps him, AWESOME!

Simply one of the worst things I've seen on television and an insult to the original in every respect. Thankfully McGoohan is dead and not around to see this abortion.

I love Flash Gordon. One thing I miss from that era of film was the tendency to just go for it. I'm not saying chances aren't taken today, but when you watch a lot of movies from the very late 70s through the mid 80s, there are some pretty crazy things going on. As the retrospective says, it was a time of change. Set design, ultra-overambitious action scenes, crazy costumes, insane storylines...

Best thing I could think of is "Alternative" (like Alternative Rock) - as far as I know this type of Science Fiction doesn't have a sub genre (yet).
