It's weird, because I don't know about anyone who likes Lloyd. People say "13 year old girls love him" but my friends despise his very existence. The only thing we have going for us is the knowledge that we are superior to everyone else.

By all means you can. The more groups the better. If you can find 9 more people to sign up, I'd be more then happy to do your draft as well. I just can't find the time to seek out 9 more people at the moment. If you guys can, I'll do another. Just have it done before December 3rd because that's when the first critics award is and when the game really begins. http://forizzer69.wordpress.com/ (TIFF: Day 8)

Boys Don't Cry and Monster are real downers for me. Midnight Cowboy too. The Elephant Man is excruciating at times. But yes there was a notable mood change after this film came off. I REALLY felt down after it. It's just such an emotionally draining film for the characters AND the audience. ha ha. "I'm f'ing busy-or vice versa"-Dorothy Parker

ESTELLE PARSONS!!! I didn't find her wonderful, I just found her annoying, whiny and atrocious in Bonnie and Clyde (1967). Top 5: Jaws, The Hours, Eyes Wide Shut, Mulholland Drive, Boogie Nights,The Talented Mr. Ripley

If a person makes such a claim then that's very purely down to a personal interpretation which the material does kind of allow for. However, I think there is as much in the film to suggest the complete opposite of that view.

The movie is brilliant - honestly, it might be the first movie I'd pick to truly show how good of a director Kubrick really was. The way he implies everything between Humbert and Lolita is so intensifying, and yet, what is implied is never even fully shown.
The book on the other hand I tried reading a couple times and just could not get into it. I might give it another go-around over winter ...

The puzzling thing for me isn't necessarily that he won the oscar because they make weird choices all the time, it's more striking that he swept the industry - he won the Oscar, the BAFTA, the Globe and the SAG in lead on top of some major critical wins (he did the New York and National double). I love the guy and nom him multiple times ( The Usual Suspects, Things We Lost in the Fire, 21 Grams )...

I find it very hard to believe Mulligan will win now, after all the buzz she (and her film) has lost. Sidibe vs Streep looks likely.
