AND on top of that Orcas are often 'selective eaters': they kill a Grey Whale & only eat the tongue, leaving the rest... Yes, very true. I have heard the orca was seen to be playing with the liver (or something) of the small great white shark but I'm not sure if it ate it. It definitely didn't eat the rest of the shark. In the aftermath of the 1997 attack, some researchers experimented to see if orca calls would...

The GREATEST opening scene ever!

Purely by reputation. Jaws is considered, as you say, an icon in cinema history. Personally, I think it's extremely overrated, and it's more nostalgic than anything else. Scream's opening was far better than Jaws' opening, but because it's Scream and not an iconic movie like Jaws, it'll never get the credit it actually deserves. Two totally different films anyway. Another example - I guarentee there would be...

Sir John Rossman Knight Of The Jersey Shore Owner and Proprietor Of The Laughing Loon Inn *Absolutely loves Jaws as a film and as a story that is brilliantly told from the perspective of the writing, the acting, and the music and all else that went into it.* The chemistry of all the actors on screen together, especially Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, and last but not least Robert Shaw was terrific. I haven't seen an ensemble cast work...

The term "Reported attack" also covers a situation where a shark has been spotted, having not showed any effort to actually attack, but has been reported AS having attacked by one or more parties! I deliberately enclosed the word attack in quotes to highlight the over-use of the word. After all, would you say a fox had attacked a chicken if you see it 50 foot away... I would hazzard a guess even the most stubborn of people...

...the other day. First off, sorry if this has been posted before. Secondly, it's my Thanksgiving tradition to watch this (don't ask, I don't have any T-giving themed movies, it's my favorite movie ever, the shark has a feast in it, etc), so yes. But onto the point - the scene where the (what turns out to be) cardboard fin floats by the woman and everyone starts panicking, at one point in the crowd of people racing onto the...

"I would re-instate the plot point from an early draft of Jaws that Hooper has been tracking this shark for years all over the globe due to it's reputation as a notorious man-eater which has mauled people all over the globe. I would have him obsessed with getting his name in the history books by proving his Rogue Shark theory correct. He would keep a video diary that he would take to his ultimate death. Thats right, in my version...

I wouldn't say Jaws is the best movie ever. It's clearly a great movie though.

That is horrible.
I wish you nitwits would stop trying to remake this movie.
There is nothing wrong with the original. If Hollywood has taught us anything, its that 99% of all remakes are not only inferior to the originals, but also crappy as stand alone films.
Why can't any of you nimrods long for Hollywood to churn out something new and original instead of regurgitating crap all the ...

I just watched the show "The Whale that Ate Jaws" and it was pretty damn cool.
Hehe I watched the show too and I had the opposite conclusion. I thought it was full of hyperbole and flaws.
Besides, the whale didn't actually eat the shark LOL.

Yes. And not only that, it also has the greatest opening title/theme music just preceeding that first attack. Powerful but also short and to the point. The opening titles don't go on and on, just BANG then we are at the beach and Chrissy gets eaten.
Genius.

In a word, "Ow".
People who have been stabbed by a knife say that it's like having a red-hot poker go through you. Imagine about a hundred of them close onto you and proceed to tear your body apart.
I think I'd rather do dental surgery on myself that get 'et by a shark.

Yeah, that whole scene is funny not so much because of the jokes, but because of some of their ridiculous laughs (especially Hooper, but also Quint). Love it! And then Quint comes in and tops it off with the Indianapolis monologue, which is brilliantly suspenseful in itself! Love this film!
