I actually could have done without those scenes simply because there weren't enough of them to actually matter. If those scenes appeared more frequently and they were funnier and more relevant to the actual storyline, I would have enjoyed them more. I totally agree with the original poster. He really wanted to split up with his wife but didn't have the guts to say it. You're forgetting that before he got home calling his wife 'babe' he was at the yoga class waiting for Anna and he didn't even answer the phone when his wife called him. He obviously had no interest in making things right with her.

That's sad. I enjoyed this movie for what it was, but there's no way I'd incorporate it into my life. Both the book and movie have a very misogynist message - which makes sense, as it's mainly headlined by a man. It's an enjoyable film and fun read no doubt, but women really shouldn't be taking it seriously.

Okay.
Scarlett's character thought that there might be a proper chance between them; at least played around with that notion.
Then she was forced to confront the true nature of their relationship and his relationship with his wife when she was asked to hide in the closet.
I suppose she was hoping that it was a totally loveless marriage and that the wife wasn't great at all.

I don't think it's so much racism as it is 30+ something year old plain looking white female directors who cast other plain non threatening looking white females to play goddesses (think carrie, sex and the city) on the big screen. Well, these tidbits didn't really outshined the main plots for me, but I really liked them, especially these 2 you mention... Also in the first minutes, the girl who plays young-Gigi was sooo cute and did a great job! I love her reaction when her mother says the boy likes her.
