The problem with Serena this Season was the same problem with Nate last Season. Being promiscuis is fine but folks aren't going to respect a character that professes her undying love for one man, risks everything and betrays her friends for him only to 'fall in love' with someone else the minute he leaves the room. Dan gets some grief now because of how he's acting and that stupid 3some. Nate got a LOT of grief in Season 2...

This season, we see Serena hopping from bed to bed. So people are going to have threads about it. Last season, Chuck was an ass hole. So there were countless threads about that. It really is quite that simple.

First off, SNL is trying to get viewers. Blake is more likely to attract viewers than Leighton. I think Serena's too damaged and Nate's too confused for them to get together. And Vanessa has slept with every guy in the main cast now, Nate, Chuck, and now Dan.
As to who would make a more intersting pairing to make a more intersting season? I don't know.

I wouldn't watch again until Jenny got off the crack and dressed like a freaking girl, not a tranny; Blair and Nate got together, Serena stopped being a whiny slut, Dan stopped being boring, Vanessa and Chuck got the f--k out, and the writers took the time to actually write a good plot.

Honestly I think leighton would be a much better fit, why are people still pushing for Lively to be the center of the show when everyone , critics included have agreed that Leighton is the MVP for the most part.She has great comic timing.
I like Lively but will she be able to pull this off...though +10 if she makes fun of Serena's idea of " work clothes"...heh.

I don't even support the Serena/Nate pairing but I could easilly see how he could love her. He always had a thing for Serena (hur, hur) and they never had a relationship so he probably always put her on a pedestal ignoring her obvious craziness.

I know it shows in UK on ITV. I would think it's nowhere near as popular as "House" internationally, although that show doens't do very well in the UK either but is huge in France.
