To the OP., you should understand why its frustrating to Lynch why people don't 'get' some of his work; its because he believes (and rightly so), that figuring out what HE is saying through the work shouldn't even come into it. For instance, people all over the world love to look at Salvador Dali's paintings...again and again, and even have prints of them framed and mounted for other people in their lives to look at;...

Anywho, you mentioned in that thread that you were a fan of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. I'm in a position to get either Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me or INLAND EMPIRE (two DVDs that are extremely rare where I'm from). I can only get one or the other (Long story, don't ask). This is rockin' bad news. I'm not going to be one of the people who says Lynch is "brainwashed" by transcendental meditation, I believe he should keep doing whatever he needs to do to make his movies the way they are...but he needs to keep making movies, rather than be a traveling spokesman for TM...

UPDATED Mon Sep 15 2008 19:02:51 I loved Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks and Elephant Man, and i'm sure i'm gonna get slaughtered on a David Lynch board for saying this. While I thought Mulholland Drive was good, I've only seen it twice and still don't really 'get' it. I had to read wikipedia to understand the gist of it. Then I heard Inland Empire was a lot more confusing then ...
