Very good point. While I don't agree completely, I can see why they would be considered gods. Unfortunately though, I still don't think this movie is intelligent in anyway. Even though it spawned an intelligent arguement. ;) Wanna get laid? Crawl up a chicken's ass and wait.

That changes the equation more than "a bit". The question of whether the target may be innocent is fundamental to the underlying moral question. You wouldn't need to pay me a million dollars to push the button with respect to a child molestor; I'd do it for free. Adding the million dollars to the equation reduces/eliminates the moral focus.

Actually the script was written when Kelly questioned himself who is this giant organization that mr. Steward works for in the original "Button, button" short story. So he wasn't trying "to freak people and be strange", his aim was to answer the questions of the short story. If Mr Kelly wants to mess with our minds and hold us in suspense why do you have too have a reason. That sounds stupid. Not...

To be honest I have no desire to see Mr. Brooks. I can't stand Dane Cook. Have you seen Primer, Timecrimes, Dark City, or The Man From Earth? How about Knowing? I actually really enjoyed that movie despite Nicolas Cage. I think people have a hard time with movies being open-ended. I loved No Country For Old Men. I know plenty of people that hated it. Same with Children Of Men. Of course, people complained about the end of Lord Of The...

People have no idea what they're talking about when they casually label a film they didn't like as the "worst ever." Ever seen Feeders? Galaxy Invader? She-Gods of Shark Reef? Really, people have no idea just how bad a film can be if they single out this one.

I think I would've gone out in a rainstorm and waved my arms around until I got struck by lightning, and then I'd have super power too just like Anderson Cooper. Then I'd come back and punch Anderson Cooper in the nose and take all of his million dollar suitcases, and I'd break his button boxes, and all his employees would dance around me joyfully singing, "Ding! Dong! Anderson Cooper's dead!" ...

As a staunch Lynch and Cronenberg fan, i disagree. Kelly made himself a masterpiece with The Box. I loved the film and wouldn't change a thing.

I agree with doomed...it's beyond ridiculous to fault a filmmaker for using the adam & eve symbolism as just a cover for being mysogynistic. Most who feel that this movie was misogynistic don't consider the "adam/eve" symbolism angle, and once they are told of it the typical response is something along the lines of "Oh, well it doesn't matter because the Bible it misogynistic, too!" lol. This ...

That's one way to look at it. I say principles aren't principles until they're put to the test. If you drop your principles at the first sign of trouble, they weren't ever really principles to begin with. I don't think they're aliens either. I think it's God or a god-like entity. I think it's the force that created us, and it's the force that can put us away.
