Not only Bogart's best performance, but also a very suspenseful and intense film. A strong 10/10! "Ritsuko Akagi, I truly..." End of Evangelion

Ladies and Gentlemen, while surfing the net today wanting to keep up to speed with the U.S Presidential Race, I came across a couple of campaign poster's promoting two new additions for the President of the United States of America. The links to the Campaign Poster's can be viewed below: Here is a picture of one new candidate standing with his chosen Vice President: http://...

Seriously, it's depressing hearing people say they don't like b&w because it's not interesting or boring. God, people are so shallow. Anyway the other day my friend said b&w isn't interesting. Have you ever heard anybody say something so stupid you wanted to punch them? Do you realize that you are judging me based upon the words that I have posted above?

Is anyone else going to this? I missed out on two of three tickets that I wanted, but will be going to see Touki Bouki (Djibril Diop Mambéty) on 24 Oct. In 1973 it was apparently the first avant-garde film from Africa. There were some Guy Debord films on, and I feel like self-mutilating for not booking before sell-out . Touki Bouki is looking good though. my ymdb page: http://www.shompy.com...

I went on a mini-binge of Soviet animation a few days ago, and thought I'd share with FG a few of my discoveries. All of these, as usual, are readily available online, and I will be only too happy to point you in the right direction if any titles strike your fancy. The Lodgers of an Old House (1987, Alexei Karaev) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475620/ The Lodgers of an Old House (1987)...

Just finished this for the second time, absolute masterpiece. Which Bergman should I go for next? There is an early one of his called Stardust and Tinsel on this Thursday. What do you think of it? You don't make up for your sins in church. You do it in the streets - Mean Streets

I kinda liked ' Waking Ned' when it came out. Ages since I saw it though I crashed into a dwarf. He said he wasn't happy. I asked which one was he then

Am I the only one who only likes him when he's a witty bad ass?. Key Largo, Dark Passage, To Have and Have Not, The Treasure of Sierra Madre, and They Drive By Night all disappointed me. They all had moments but overall just... eh. The Big Sleep and Casablanca are fantastic though.

Just picked up that, ehm, perfectly authentic copy of Ponyo on the Cliff that I bought the other day, and thus the idea for this thread was born. For me it's My Neighbour Totoro and Ponyo, and other Ghibli films to a lesser extent. Beijing Bloggin' - UPDATED 09 OCTOBER http://beijingbloggin.blogspot.com/

Parody thread, sorry couldn't resist! I've had a few glasses of wine and two glasses of whiskey - I'm definitely in the running! If no one took risks, Michaelangelo would have painted the Sistine floor.

You know the drill by now, but for those who don't it's a chance to share our thoughts on the films we saw last week, whether it be just a fleeting line or two summing up your thoughts or an overwritten ode of Aclean dimensions, feel free to write as much or as little as you want (though do at least include some idea of whether you liked or loathed them). Do feel free to offer your own ...

It's time for the annual FG Fancy Dress Ball. Last year I came as Selene [ Kate Beckinsale] in Underworld. This year I'm leaving the leather behind and going for the classic: Marquise Isabelle de Merteuil [Glenn Close] in Dangerous Liasons ... Last year I had to limit it to 3 Spidermen only, I think this year there will have to be the same limit imposed on The Dark Knights. ...

In the US have to go with Brooklyn's Grimaldi's just edging out Little Italy's Lombardi's . I found John's to be totally overrated. A soggy, pulped mess, no texture, no finesse. In Rome, hands down it's Remo in Testaccio {the real Rome btw} and also a nod to Da Buffeto , especially for their bruschetta. I would go back to NYC and Rome just to visit these fine establishments. I ...

I'm not a wacko or anything any suggestions I have no idea why, but "Let him have it" was the first that came to mind. I guess "Braveheart" has to be right up there too. Oh, and "The Passion of the Christ" every waking minute is another chance to post on IMDB

I just caught a little of Once upon a Time in America which has the song 'Yesterday' by The Beatles in it and that got me thinking that it was also in 'bean-the ultimate disaster movie' Obviously there must be songs that have been in tonnes of movies. Can you guys think of any? I crashed into a dwarf. He said he wasn't happy. I asked which one was he then

When I got into film about a year and a half ago I seriously cut back on Lit. I'm thinking of reading something recent to ease myself back in. I spent a fruitless hour trying to find something interesting in the (small) local bookstore so I thought I might ask here. I'll probably read The Idiot after whatever I read as a result of this thread. I will choose at least one novel that is ...

I'm adding to my greencine queue and would appreciate any input. Perhaps a list of some favorites would tell you what I'm looking for: All that Heaven Allows (1955, Douglas Sirk) Flat is Beautiful (1998, Sadie Bening) Berlin Alexanderplatz (1980, Rainer Werner Fassbinder) Bringing Up Baby (1938, Howard Hawkes) INLAND EMPIRE (2006, David Lynch) Beau Travail (1999, Claire Denis) 3 ...
