You are absolutely right, an extremely wise choice by QT. The story is bigger than the basterds but they are in there to be the action/comic relief.

i thought valkyrie was too souless and efficient, alot of it i think its because of the studio who had trouble marketing it as anything other than a thriller so they had to cut everything according to the action and we miss alot of the drama between the characters, like theres a scene that they cut which is of claus dancing with his wife which i thought would have been great but it didnt fit the ...
