I did start to worry when other father started belting one out on the piano. It's the musical numbers in a film that inspire me to turn it off immediately, shame really when you consider most kids films can't help avoid them. The Dude Abides...

While people argue the book Coraline came first.. i very much doubt the film makers of PL had read it.. possibly not even being awear of it.. i didn't know of Coraline until this film. So i don't think you can accuse anyone are ripping or copying anyone off.. (for those that do) Similarities sure but it's very universal.. any film with a young girl and a fantasy world is going to be in this category.. but it all started i...

You and I probably have a very different taste for movies. I found CORALINE to be one of the best 3D model animation films ever made, a wonderful, attractive and at the same time mysterious and creepy fairytale, written by the talented Neil Gaiman. because men are physically stronger and their hormones make them more impulsive to sexual needs. To elaborate, if women get aroused, they get aroused. If men get aroused, they want to put it in action. For women, even if they are really horny and crazed and they try to rape men, they can't do it if men don't want to. For men, it's another thing altogether. It doesn't take a really horny and sex depraved man to transform...

Was, if the Beldam created this Coraline centric world and basically everything in it, why is it that some of the creatures she created appeared to have free will and were able to form opinions for themselves? For example the other dad on a number of occasions towards the end basically helps Coraline and gives her little clues and warnings about the Other mother. Also the other Wybie is shown to dislike what the mother has done and even stops...

I reckon kids will get a kick out of it. A young protagonist fighting the grown ups and winning, laughs along the way and few thrilling scenes and jump moments...kids would be excited watching Coraline.

Also, she calls her friends "Trolls" in the scene where the picture is talking to her, (and any Michigander would know that thats the nickname for those who live "under the (Mackinac)bridge." At the beginning of the movie, she says she's from Pontiac, MI btw for those who were curious. I also noticed the Brighton, and Linden ref's, and was wondering about the area code on the truck (even if they...

*Coraline's real mother is wearing a neck brace, as a result of a car accident that she and Coraline were in while moving. I will admit that I didn't even notice that. Before I read the trivia section, I thought that the real mother was just wearing a white turtleneck.

Wow, I never thought of it that way! I agree, I wasn't offended by the scene, heck it was hilarious! But it's true, why are only guys allowed to walk around without shirts on. Though I must say I wouldn't want to walk around topless, don't feel comfertable about it, I must agree that there is a certain discrimination about this. What exactly the problem is? I don't know I'm afraid, it's just ...

Maybe that is the result of creating Life.... Free will, She could control the physical such as the smile and talking but not their will or maybe she never realised as when they did try and help, she tried to silence them so she might have overlooked that part through vanity thinking that she created them in "Her Image" either way it made me more sympathetic to them and made the movie more real ...

Yes the theme of the story is very common, Chronicles of Narnia is another one like it. I do however agree there is also some aesthetic similarities with Pan Labryinth, just the overall mood and tone. PL however is clearly not a children's film as there are scenes of torture and other things not appropriate in a children's film.

it's true.
there is nothing unnatural or wrong about sex or the human body, yet in America, they act as if there is, and they just become a super-repressed society.
the outrage that occurs in that country about these sort of things is crazy. "my child will be damaged forever because he saw a breast! OMG!!!"
they don't seem to have any problems with violence though.

Musicals are appropriate for some animated movies. I mean, imagine The Nightmare Before Christmas without the wonderful singing. But for Coraline...no. I think it worked better as a non-musical. There was certainly music, but it was not a musical. Songs did not help convey the story.

btw, i think it's not for children becasue they show Coraline killing lizards like they are nothing at all. I don't want any nice child to idolize her and starts to be cruel like her and thinks it's cool.

Well, of course I thought of Brighton, England, and "Linden's" was quite obviously being used in a last name fashion. But, I'm quite sure most people from Michigan made a similar observation. And my reply was just that, a reply. I didn't reply by saying "Here's your answer, official and notarized!.
By the way, you didn't sound rude, you just sounded like a 16 year old boy.

I think that was part of the point. By the end of the movie she's nicer and seems to be much more interested in the people around her. Her experience in the other world was supposed to cause a character change in her. Kinda like Chihiro in Spirited Away.
