First check up the word arbitrarily then take a chill pill. The Aliens did not arbitrarily attack the humans, they were following instinct as it pertained to their natural means of reproduction, much like a Lion will attack and eat a human if he's hungry. What does that tell us? Stay away from hungry man-eating lions! We have always found the Irish a bit odd. They refuse to be English. ~Winston Churchill

Whether the Administration or WY were in league or not, I don't think it matters. If anything, they were probably competitors. If the Colonial Administration (which was responsible for the Colonial marines) got wind of the existance of the aliens, they too would send in capture teams. Ultimately, whatever the scenario and whichever way you spin it, the script of the sequels assumes that the derelict was either unrecoverable or lost....

That statement by Dallas doesn't prove anything if the Nostromo had already been rerouted. There is also no indication in the movie that Ripley is new to the Thedus mission as Ash was. If she traveled from Earth to Thedus, and then from Thedus in an attempt to go back to earth, she still could not know most of the other crew's flight history and still be newish. Just not Ash new. That stuff might not come up when everything is...

Unless Cameron has said it himself, saying it is an allegory of Vietnam is a bit of a stretch. Yes there are similarities between the Aliens and the Vietcong but Ripley "takes names" in the end and thats not exactly how the Vietnam war ended...

Using the original argument about the low number of actual warrior aliens... The nuking of the planet was a complete and utter waste. While in the original post, I made the approximation that only about 50-75 warrior aliens existed on the planet, and the Marines wasted most of them by mid-movie. So, by nuking the planet, they kill at most a handful of aliens -- which of course could have ...

I started a thread regarding Ripleys right to arbitrarily exterminate the species and it got somewhat blown out of proportion regarding ethical and moral values, who started it all, were the Aliens pricks or did the humans stick their noses into a beehive. Then dick measuring ensued and whatnot. I BTW still don't believe she had the right but that's put to bed. My current beef is by what ...

From reading this forum and from the plot of fourth installment in the Aliens saga i got the feeling that everybody thinks that whole planet was destroyed in the nuclear blast at the end of the film. Which is of course absolute nonsense. To quote Bishop: "With a blast radius of 30 kilometers; equal to about 40 megatons." Well... it's a pretty big badda boom, but it's still less then Tsar ...

It appears as if all aliens started off as parasites on human hosts. Therefore, there could only be at most 158 alien soldiers when the Marines first landed. Of course, this assumes that the aliens were able to capture all of the columnists alive and cocoon them. Not only that, but the alien numbers weren't reduced during the fighting with the colonists. Also, apparently the aliens wouldn't ...

Lt Gorman should have never ordered Sgt Apone to remove all of his men's ammo clips; this creates too many problems and other queries for me. Firstly, they are meant to be well-trained marines, who obey every order given, even if the order leads to their deaths. So if Gorman said no fire from your rifles and fire from their side-arms only, they should have obeyed them. Even then if they come ...

Not to poke holes in the film, just a thought. She was standing right in front of it with 2 guns while the queen just sat there, she could have blow its head off then and there.

Seriously, WTF? Why hate either Alien or Aliens? They're both masterpieces in their own right, they're just different. Like Cameron did with T1 and T2. Alien 3 and Resurrection are the real garbage films in this series.

I know that this is nit-picking, as Ferro is obviously a fictional character in a science fiction movie, but I would just like to point out that either the writers of the "Aliens" script or the writer of the novel (or the myriad of contributors on the internet over the years) are paying this character a dis-service, as pilots are generally officers of some sort. Either ranked as (Marine) Lt. on ...

Alien 5 be about Newt in between the time the aliens took over LV-426 and ripley's arrival? They'll show how she survived. They could make it PG and have say pop-up books, action figures, etc for kids

I love that they use ballistic rifles. I know in the editors cut Hudson mentions phased plasma pulse rifles but all the sci-fi futuristic movies that featured laser guns or phasers never really impressed me (I mean the weaponry not the movies). There's just something a little more man about a lock and load loud ass projectile rifle. Props get 10/10. We have always found the Irish a bit odd. ...
