I thought Farrell did a great job, and I loved the movie.
I would have loved to see the Baz Luhrmann film with Leo DiCaprio as Alexander and
Nicole Kidman as Olympias. It got cancelled after Alexander flopped.

As a fellow European (well...British with West
African heritage), I whole-heartedly disagree.
What's more, I would love to see this French film made about a gay George Bush (provided they explain that they either have strong evidence to back it up or just plain made it up).
It's only a movie - no need to start rising up against Hollywood just yet.

Oh dear snobish cinema lovers have panned this to the ground.Infact a brilliant movie.People get confused by the accencts but they would be the first to moan if they didnt put any effort in.Colin Farrel was good as Alexander not as good as Burton in the 56 movie.Im pretty sure the film snobs will go back to
Brokeback Mountain or The Dark Knight and hail them as the greatest masterpieces of all ...

The real Alexander was short, fat and ordinary looking. He didn't look "kingly" or seem
charismatic to anyone who didn't already know who he was.

Judging by what he did with "Australia", and judging that Oliver Stone's version "Alexander Revisited" was a great improvement of the theatrical version, I'd say that Baz Luhrman would have done a bad job of it. Consider the fact that he would have cast Leo di Caprio and Nicole
Kidman in it. Leo's an awesome actor, just not right for the role of Alexander. And Nicole Kidman? That explains itself.

Parmenion (
John Kavanagh) says it during Gaugamela when the Macedonian left is crumbling. It's just before he sends his son to warn Alexander about the situation.
"Go! Tell Alexander yourself! And if he won't listen, then survive me, and avenge this betrayal!"

The original
theatrical cut is only 175 minutes, the Revisited (final cut) is 214 minutes. The director's cut is the only one that is 167 minutes (your 2 hours and 47 minutes.) Hope that helps.

I agree. Appalling decision (as well others).
