I just wanted to hear the 2 cops who investigated have that convo from B89: cop 1: There wasn't any blood left in the body! cop 2: No $#!+ It was all over the pavement! Rachel Nichols, Karolina Kurkova and Sienna Miller in G.I. Joe, ARE why the Cobras "RISE!"

The OP missed the entire point of the TOTBF - yes, I know the guy who wrote it helped in the construction of the squid, but that is completely irrelevant to the fact that the comic itself is suppose to parallel Veidt's intentions to save the world and the outcome of that line of thinking. I.E., Veidt became a monster though his intentions were only to unite the world in peace, like the protagonist in the comic ended up killing his own...

Wow... I don't think I could ever write better propaganda on behalf of the movie Watchmen. This guy shows us the perfect example of someone who didn't understand the movie, and has decided to hate it. Anything I write would not even come close to this masterpiece. All it needs is to be put in perspective: Essentially, what this guy (unwittingly) tells us is: you have to be able to think to appreciate this movie. Oh, and you also...

Ultimate edition in UK
Published (2009-11-07 16:58:00)
No, it did not do "very poorly." It had a 55 million opening weekend, nearly 110 domestic in the US, and 185 million total worldwide. The DVD sales are up to nearly 50 million. While not a smash hit (probably because most didn't get it), it was not a flop or a failure. *** FYC Best Supporting Actor: Jackie Earle Haley - Watchmen

I'm a big fan of the GN and I think the theatrical version was WAY too short. Everything seemed so rushed. The DC ist nearly perfect. The first half flows excellent but the second it still a bit too fast. Everything is like bam, bam, bam, bam. SO the pacing is a bit off. The UC is imo the best version. The pacing is now excellent during the whole movie. The first half is still as great as ever ...

It's not supposed to be an action flick. It's more sophisticated than that.

Well said, james oblivion. The fact is that you could have made the movie 6 hours and it would not have been able to explore the rich symbolism and major philosophical quandries explored in the graphic novel. The typical movie structure doesn't allow for it.
Since the series was 12 parts anyways, a 12 part miniseries would have been a perfect format that would have allowed for more with less....

No, it's not.
Gollum was a crucial character. The squid was a plot device.

Snyder decreed that the squid was 'too much' for the intended-audience so he 'improved' the ending to better-suit the rest of the film.
Also using ' Cavalleria rusticana' in Hollis Mason's death scene wasn't at all cheesy or uninspired, it was highly emotional, like when Apollo Creed is punched to death by Victor Drago in Rocky IV.

This movie deserves multiple nominations for sure. But the only reason the Dark Knight was up for anything was its box office take. And Watchmen doesn't have that luxury.
