Needs to be seen more than once

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man A: The first time I saw this film, I was like "What the *beep* is this utter *beep* The second time, it started to make sense and go up 3 points from a 3/10 to a 6/10. B: Lets basically go into to all movies and proclaim them all masterpieces - and simply keep subjecting ourselves to their cinematic awesomeness until we see them as such. --------- "Doggerel" is my new favorite...

why does he shoot the rocket...
Published (2009-11-12 15:32:00)
Because the world was coming to an end. And if he didn't take the shot, some other guy w/a rocket launcher, standing on top of another floating ice cream truck would do it first. A real pimp would never let that happen.

could this have been a tv series
Published (2009-11-10 22:09:00)
Possibly a mini-series, but I actually like how there's so much going on all at once in this movie. I do enjoy a good sensory overload every now and then. "We're going to take the ATM machine with us to Mexico."

deals with the second coming......

well duh I know that...lol. Besides the title was to get people to actually click on the post. Don't worry, I saw Lord of the Rings. I'm not going to end this 17 times.

favorite part of film?

the scene is deep though he is a broken man who clearly has gotten screwed over from the people he trusted and was probably naive. He is also mocking our society which is funny.

The Movie is the Product of One...

Lol. He's from the David Lynch school of film. Disjointed plot + bazaar imagery that's supposed to have importance as symbolism = genius!

The first time I watched it, I had no idea whether I liked it or not. I wish they had a ?/10 rating option. The second time, I thought it was sophomoric film school refuse. The third time (I hate how pretentious this sounds), I got it. Final rating 9/10. I'm trying to tell you, this is good for your mental health.

Yeah. I used to hate this film, and now it's one of my absolute favourites. The trouble is, not many people want to rewatch a film they didn't like the first time. I'm not even sure why I gave it a second chance, but I'm so glad I did.

Wasn't the whole movie a dream scene of a sort?
Do you mean that part with that song by "The Killers"?
I'm kind fo split on that one. I was hyped up for something huge, maybe too hyped. Justin Timberlake basically has a drunk-dream in which he seems to be drunk; he's surrounded by this group of hot women...that he has no interest in.

By bring the duplicate Roland/Ronald together, Walter is helping to bring about the end of the world. My take on it was that it was a more-or-less instinctive act, only vaguely planned, precipitated by the crazy behavior that the slowing of the Earth's rotation was causing, as well as by defiance of the tyrannical state of the government. If you notice, by the end of the movie the vast majority ...

The critics usually watch a film once before writing their review. I didn't care for Southland Tales the first time I saw it, but it's grown on me enormously. Several viewings later I now consider it a masterpiece.
But yes, I agree that the critics were a bit closed-minded on this one.

Well, duh. I think the constant references to Revelations were a pretty big hint.

Some early drafts only from before Kelly transformed the story from mindless comedy to scifi satire with more serious political, religious, etc messages.

"Hey, wanna be a trolling *beep* and make a stupid, thoughtless thread that tries and fails to insult fans of a particular film, until they forget all about it, which will most likely be in a few minutes; and then make similar threads on countless other films I'm too stupid to understand?"

The comics help the story make sense. I still think the film suffers from just having too much going on, but if you read the comics it would at least help the film make sense.

"Doggerel" is my new favorite word.

It's called Southland Tales . And I really have no idea why you're watching it. I had a similar reaction when I first saw this, and now it's one of my all-time favourite movies.
