I was wondering what happened between these two. Last I saw she was in Chicago with the new guy because she needed to figure things out. What happened after that. I'm watching season 5 now did I miss something?

she probably never wanted Franco back after that or maybe they are saving it for the last 19 episodes like Alicia and keela, hopefully they will bring them back one more time

I don't think the problem with Season 5 was how long it took to be completed (the fault of the writer's strike, not the show). The problem was the length of the season. Season 5 had enough memorable scenes and episodes that, if it was 13 eps instead of 22, it would have been amazing. That being said, when you spread out 13 episodes worth of material over 22, you wind up spreading yourself way too thin. This was the problem with S5, IMO.

About mid-way through the 3rd season, the writers stopped worrying about continuity and would pick up ideas for a few episodes and then drop them never to be heard again. Sheila raping Tommy had a lot of potential, especially because of the possibility that he had chlamydia from Damien's teacher, but both plots basically petered out. Then Tommy's brother's death went went nowhere. Franco losing his daughter went nowhere, as...

Soeverytone is in agreement it seems, the 5th season was definitely not worth the long wait. It was so long in coming I forgot all about it and missed the whole season. Looks like I didn't miss much. I loved the first 2 seasons. 3 was ok, 4 got old real fast.

The show is not so much homophobic in itself as much as it reflects the homophobia that exists in a lot of firehouses. It is simply being true to its source material. If you watch for a little while, you will realize that there isn't as much homophibia as it seems, but what is there is appropriate given the characters and their setting.
