2 reasons. Scorsese as we can see in the past, is quite "onesided" when it comes to leading parts (De Niro, Di Caprio, Day Lewis). He doesnt seem to like experimenting. The other reason is that first, Bale is still too young, many projects, too busy (lets not forget that Scorsese likes to prepare for his films a long time, for each detail). Frankly speaking, while i like Bale, i dont think Bale suits to Scorsese...

No, he's not great. Not at all. He's completely wooden, he has zero range, and he's an eternal man-boy. He's impossible to take seriously in any kind of "gritty" role where we're supposed to believe he's an adult. A gritty adult, no less.

The Departed was memorable for me because of Mark Wahlberg and Alec Baldwin. Di Caprio just never steals the limelight for me. Blood Diamond it was all Djimoun Hounsou (sp?), Gangs of New York I only remember Daniel Day Lewis as Bill the Butcher and in The Aviator which just might be Di Caprios best movie for me it was still about Cate Blanchett and John C.
