Just out of curiousity, where have you seen cars landing in trees? You live in Tornado Alley by chance? D "The children being kidnapped and enslaved isn't portrayed in a particularly malicious fashion."

I was urged to watch it a second time- and I couldn't finish it- without making an edit of my own- I was able to make it a lot more acceptable... I remember the argument that the public would think it was 'better' as time passed- I knew the truth- it would only get worse... Good news...Science just invented magic!

Yes, a car can simply land in a tree, but it's not going to just bounce out like a freaken trampoline. Yes, a person can grab a vine and swing, but nobody can just do that like a monkey jumping from one to the next so fast that they outrun a car, and while aliens could exist, that doesn't mean they belong with Indiana Jones.

Published (2009-12-02 20:34:00)
Peter Jackson's King Kong is neither as bad nor as good as everyone claims. It's one of those movies--riddled with hits and misses, even down to Jackson's cinematography: some of it wildly imaginative, other bits painfully generic. One thing Jackson did that I wasn't too crazy about is that he tried to warm the film with contemporary (melo)drama. How many slow motion closeups of a teary eyed Anne(Frodo) do we need? The film...

Top 10 Villains of the Decade
Published (2009-12-02 23:31:00)
Of all the Indy villains, I would only consider Belloq to be a great villain. Donovan, Mola Ram and Spalko were all a little weak. I mean, they did the job fine, but they werent all that memorable.

Fact is: You are wrong!
The main-problem is: Most action-scenes in "Skull" are implausible. That's why "Skull" is an ANTI-Indy-Movie. As we all know "Indiana Jones" means real stunts and beleievable action-scenes:
"Indy 1 - 3": Many-many real stunts, many-many believebale action-scenes, some over-the top-action-scenes in "Temple" but never as implausible as the "Skull"-actions-scenes.

What about the guy surviving his heart ripped out of his body, then his body burns up, and his heart, which is about 30 yards away, bursts into flames? I suppose those are "realistic"...

We all get the scene but we don't appreciate it.....it's stupid and that's the reason it was rewritten out of Back to the Future.
This is the fanbase that hates their own favorite director worse than the Transformers fans hate Transformers.
I wouldn't be so sure of that the new Transformers films (admittedly they are terrible) receive far more hate from Transformers fans then Indiana Jones...

I agree. If you have a good story and willing actors, then you can pull it off.

Uh dude, everybody saw the ark. The way they panned the camera right in front of it made it the most obvious thing ever.

The hate you see on this message board is REALLY overstated. I've been to other boards about this film, and it's refreshing to see many people on those boards talking about how much they enjoyed the movie. And of the people I've talked to in real life, the opinions range from "It was great!" to "Meh, not as good as the first three, but still a fun movie." I haven't met anyone in the real world...

Nobody with knowledge aboot movies or with a good taste thinks that Spalko is a good villain.
It's just another indicator that "Skull" is a lousy movie. An ANTI-Indiana Jones-Movie.

Marion calls him Indiana. That counts for something. I think Indy chooses to be called Henry by everyone else at the university because of his father, or at least that is my take on it.

Films are not reality. Reality is not film. Film is only an approximation of reality.
