I'm looking for a recommendation on who to go to in the California (or vacinity) area who can not only do the diesel swap, but suspension, etc. This will be a big project, but the swap is the main concern (as anyone can do the rest). I know of Mudrak in Sonoma, and Proffitt's in Arizona. Any thoughts on either of these two, or other suggestions? Thanks. Robert

Thought of tossing a jug of Canola oil with my next fill up. I never done it before as I just got the truck recently. So, while I was in the Superstore in Calgary today, I checked their "No Name" brand, which is usually the cheapest, and my jaw just dropped! A 3L jug costs over 7$... The 16L container was 28$.. Makes you wonder where things are headed to..

1.389 per litre at Bélisle Diésel tonight, the CHEAPEST PLACE IN THE LAURENTIANS. That's exactly 9 cents more than 6 days ago, or about ONE THOUSAND PERCENT INCREASE PER ANNUM . Yes folks, that's exactly US$5.15 per US Gallon on this day, April 10, 2008. Something's got to give...

So I don't know about anyone else, but above 13,000 feet on cold mornings it takes a while for my turbo to get all warmed up with the oil and all that sufficiently so that the engine reaches a happy idle. I'm not sure exactly what the effect is that causes it, but the symptoms are that for the first 15 minutes or so the engine kind of has a "wave" effect and spits out ridiculous amounts of ...

I have a 12HT dropped into an FJ62. I need to hook up an aftermarket tach to 12HT. Thanks to this thread I found the sender on the bell housing: Unfortunately, the engine/tranny came with these wires snipped. Question - any idea if an aftermarket gauge can be spliced to this sender? If so, which one? There's got to be some out there that read the hall effect. Or should I just ...

When I turn to off, engine only occasionally stops. Then I need to put her in 4'th and hold the brake and release the clutch. That'll burn the clutch after a while. Which relay or switch or thingamabob is causing this? How do I remedy? I guess I need a FSM. I will contact 'Yota about that. I have online manuals and no mention is made of this problem unless I missed it. Thanks in ...

My Troopy arrived today. It's got a H (not 2H) with a 4 speed. I haven't put a compression tester on it yet but it fires up almost instantly with minimal smoke. I bet the smoke will go away after a diesel purge treatment. I'm really not interested in keeping the H in the truck. I'd like to sell it but have no idea what these things are worth. I did a quick search here but it's hard to ...

Yesterday, I bought a 1HD-FT engine to swap into my PZJ70. The engine was kept very badly and on disassembly we found some rust on cylinders 4 and 6. On cursory inspection the bores did not feel pitted but a very experienced mechanic insisted that we'd have to rebore the engine block and also suggested fitting bore liners. He added further that honing the bore would probably take it out of...
