There is a new PillCam for Colon views. Perhaps too new for use in USA? (IMG: http://www.ibsgroup.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif ) Medical knowledge and technology sure has come a long way from the ancient times where sickness was attributed to the devil and his cohort, and in this day and age where going under the knife often meant saving a life, the PillCam Colon 2 makes its appearance, going one up on its predecessor of the...

Hadn't heard about the new generation. Don't know any more than you do about it. I do know the first generation one only has about 6 hours of battery life. The good news is it sees all the parts of the small intestinal lining that nothing else can. However there is still the same problem that if you have a polyp or an area that looks funny they still have to do a regular colonoscopy to know what is really going on.

Home enema kit uk?

Does anyone in the uk know where I can buy a home enema kit from? Or do I have to get it on prescription? I've never tried it before but I have colonic hydrotherapy regularly and thought it might be a cheaper alternative!

Hi all, I thought I'd introduce myself and tell you my story. I've just recently discovered this forum and have been reading a bit, but not written anything until now. I can see that my case of IBS is pretty mild compared to many of you here, but to me it's, of course, serious enough. I guess my story begins when I was a kid, I've been lactose intolerant since I can remember, even though I did not know what it was. All I...

I read through the posts.. and now I wonder.. do any of you live in a none western country? Like.. China for example? I started a food diary yesterday, but it's quite a pain in the butt to be picky about fruit and veggies that are not seasonal (I'm sorry, picky is not the word, but that's the only way to put it in my situation..) Same goes for about any product... I can get fresh fish and chicken, but fish can be a bit tricky...

Look in your nearest druggist for one and if you can't find it.. ask the Druggist where/how you can obtain one. Here in the US you can usually get one in any druggist or pharmacy. Some pharmacists may keep them behind the counter.. but one can still get them without a Rx here. But there it might be different... so just ask your druggists.

I had the capsule endoscopy done. It was relatively simple and painless. Unfortunately, results came back completely normal so I still don't have any answers.

Dawng, Have you tried eliminating both diary and wheat / gluten (including oats and rye) totally for 2 weeks and see whether this brings about any improvement? You need to be really strict for it to be a proper test of your sensitivity to these things. Happy for you to contact me directly if you want some advice or encouragement. As you have seen from my post in this area, what I have ...

The camera pill is primarily to look at the small intestine, it doesn't have the battery life to see the whole colon. Usually for the camera pill the prep is along enough fast that the small intestine is empty. If you want to look at the colon without a colonoscopy they do what is called a virtual colonoscopy with a CT scanner and that is the same prep as a regular colonoscopy. The ...

Generally alcohol and caffeine loosen stools so if you tend to constipation they may not be a bad thing, even if they tend to say all IBSers should cut them out. IBSers generally tend to fair better on cooked foods, especially veggies, rather than raw (which does tend to go with the Chinese approach that IBSers often have issues with spleen energy so should eat more cooked foods, I'm ...

Zelnorm isn't a medication that is only supposed to be taken 'as needed'. It is supposed to be taken twice a day before a meal, (once in the morning prior to breakfast and once in the evening prior to dinner) and in order for it to be effective, it's to be taken regularly on an on-going basis.

Every disease is effected by emotions. Every time you are anxious it sets off all sorts of physical things in the body. Stress, anxiety, etc can be a major trigger for some IBSers. We like to think diet is the only trigger, but often it is the innocent bystander that gets all the blame when other things are what are setting it off. Physical stress can be as bad as mental/emotional ...
