This shoulder blade thing was so scary that it started me on my research. Colorectal distension projects to the locus coeruleus (LC) where it projects to the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) and raises the brain's metabolic rate. (It has to do with Area 25--Brodman's area, that causes a globalization of Cerebral blood flow). The cerebral blood flow raises intra-cranial pressure, that momentarily projects down the vertebral venous...

Where can I get more information on insulin resistance or decreased insulin sensitivity and the other things you were talking about? It sounds almost exactly like the same problem I have and I'm really interested in finding out more.

Recurring Abdominal Pain Always...

Pain can be anywhere in the abdomen but it doesn't have to migrate around. Some people have one part that usually hurts and some have all over tenderness with or without a few usual spots of worse pain. That the pain goes away when you've slept is really typical of IBS. The colon is least active while you are sleeping. It varies in activity during the day and the eating makes it worse may be from the gastrocolic reflex that...

Lower Left Side Dull Constant Ache

Thank you for very helpful posts. I will definitely be trying some form of peppermint. I am certainly grateful that my pain is dull rather than extreme. And I realized right away that dull left side pain is better than sharp right side pain, as there is much less chance that there is a serious problem with an organ. At least this is a wakeup call that I need to watch what I eat and make sure I have adequate fiber in my diet. I will post again...

Good Morning Heather, and welcome. I can totally relate to your situation because I feel the same way. I am a mother of 6, my oldest is 24 and my youngest is 11. At one time, not long ago, Iwas a super mom. I would wake up super early, take care of the family needs, be at work by 5 am, come home on break to make supper, go back to work and finish at 5pm. Then I would rush home, put the finishing touches on supper, feed the family, do the...

QUOTE My reading indicated that the abdominal pain from IBS moves around a lot and may change in intensity. Actually the area you describe where your discomfort is located is a very common area for IBS'ers to have discomfort... it is the descending colon area. I would urge you to talk to your Dr about how you are feeling depressed. You might need to treat that depression as well and some antidepressants have been known to help with IBS pain. Talk to your Doctor about this. All the best

I was also diagnosed with Endometriosis back when I was a junior in HS. I had the surgery done where they go in and burn it out. I was still having severe pain after that so they did the lupron ...

I had a lot of whole colon tenderness when my IBS was bad. Somtimes the nerves just over-sense the colon and that can make the whole thing feel tender.

What kind of pain pills? Antispasmodics (usually used for IBS) or narcotics. Sometimes narcotics eventually backfire and make the pain nerves in the colon a lot more sensitive than they were before you started taking the narcotics. NSAID's (like motrin) can sometimes make people's IBS a lot worse as well. Have they tried putting you on antidepressants. They treat the depression and ...

This is my guess: Sometimes when folks curl up in a ball.. they tense up too. But when one stretches all the way out.. one has more of a tendency to relax muscles instead of tense them up.
