Are these the factory brakes or have you replaced them in the past? From what you describe, it sounds like aftermarket pads were used w/ out the anti-squeal shim on the back. You can sometimes get away w/out them by applying some silicone grease to the backs of the pads and face of the caliper pistons. I would strongly advise against DIY seatbelt replacement, unless you know what you're doing. The Santa Fe is equipped with pyrotechnic seat belt pretensioners, a safety feature which can go horribly wrong (as in "kaboom") in untrained hands. $100 for the belt plus labour might be a better deal than it first sounds.
