Intake Manifold Removal
Published (2009-12-05 01:30:00)
Anybody here done it? Looks like the top bolts aren't that difficult to get to and the bottom ones are fun. I am thinking fuel rail and tb needs to come off for ease of access. Doing an intake manifold / valve cover and tb gasket replacement.

QUOTE (nick944 @ Dec 1 2009, 10:15 PM) Now it's knocking...so I guess all the value just left my car, and selling it for a decent price is the only way I can get another car. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sad.gif ) Have you done a compression test? You might be able to save it. Check my sig and send me a PM. I have a service manual I can send you.

Weird Engine Sounds
Published (2009-12-05 22:46:00)
I don't think I will be leaving this forum anytime soon. I've decided that I will see my car (or at least the odometer) through 150,000+ miles. The engine is being swapped with another with only 37,000 miles on it (where as mine has 77,500) and the labor will be free which comes out to $1200. Despite my slight problems with the car I love my Accent (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif )

Steering Screech And Engine Bogging
Published (2009-12-06 20:01:00)
Here is an update. So far the dealer has replaced #1 coil as spark was weak, replaced throttle position sensor, welded a leak in the intake manifold. The car runs much better especially when cold. That damned P1128 keeps coming back. I was inspecting the flex pipe just after the catalytic converter and found it to be leaking. A word of advice don't try to replace that in your driveway! After I fix that I will see where I stand....

1st of all where did you find a auto trans for a 2nd gen Accent and how much you pay? the cable screws onto the sensor, 2 part system. Twist it off with your hand. Carefull when you put it back, it has a key way like a handcuff key. This post has been edited by mac1 : Today, 12:22 AM

Nice! I think it might have been the intake manifold gasket personally only because I did replace all four injectors and the problem didn't go away but i've yet to replace the gasket.

the fact that your engine check light is flashing indicates there is a fault. the only way to find out what the problem is would be to get the fault code read on a scanner which can be done at your dealer or local garage. if your car is running o/k there is not to much too worry about but you would be advised to get the code sorted as soon as you can

Just bought a 2000 Hyundai Accent GS 1.5L. I brought it home and 3/4 of the way home the check engine light comes on. After searching for a cause I realized the oil was barely touching the dipstick. So I topped it up. Next thing I notice is the engine bogs from a cold start just after putting it in gear. As it revs up a bit it is fine. Stop at a light and same problem (even when warm...

Sounds like the seals on the rack have gone bad. It is possible to remove the rack and replace the seals, but it's not usually a job for the DIYer.

Is the power steering pump itself leaking? Mine started leaking right after I had all the belts changed. Changed the pump, new one is leaking too. It doesn't seem to get onto the ground, but is all over the pump and hoses below it.
