Could This Be a Symptom!?!?

Hi Ladies! I am scheduled for a SAH on 12/10 and while I was really nervous about it, reading this site has helped tremendously. Now I am focusing on all of the things I WILL be able to do once I am healed. I have had endo for at least a decade, had it removed 2x, and recently was told I have aden. I also have a history of cysts, large ones, particularly on my left side. I was talking with a friend of mine the other day who wants to try to...

Hi bates772 I also found that the women on this website were the ones who truly understood my anxieties, my emotions, the :coaster: I was on, etc. The barium enema doesn't sound fun--but it makes so much sense to find out if there's anything else your doctor might need know about or work on during your hysterectomy. I hope everything goes well for you!

no more scary stories
Published (2009-12-02 18:10:00)
It may seem that there's nothing but scary stories, but there are many of us who had a pretty good experience. My hospital stay, surgery and recovery went very well and I'm very thankful for that. For many women, a hysterectomy isn't a cure and sometimes problems continue. A hysterectomy, no matter what type, comes with risks and possible complications. It's surgery. There is a forum here called Our Hysterectomy Stories...

lacey, I agree with you. The worst part was waiting and especially the day of the surgery. I knew I needed it but was looking for an out. I talked to my mom the whole ride over(1 1/2 hours) to keep me calm. Bless her, she didn't yell at me although I must have driven her nuts!!! My doctors and nurses were so fantastic because they saw how nervous I was and started making jokes to make me more at ease. They also introduced the...

slide - Check out the hysterectomy checkpoints for some general guidelines but as mentioned with your additonal work it could be longer. A friend had similar surgery over the summer and it was at least 8 to 12 weeks before her Dr. would allow her to lift 20lbs. She hs some max. lifting restrictions for life so that the rectocele and cystocels don't recur. She had her hyster due to uterine prolapse. I can't tell you about the...

Hi labella:
Here is a link to an article about the cervix: http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/article_96911.htm
I was not really a candidate to keep my cervix, but absence of the cervix does not seem to have had an effect on my sex life.
I hope you are able to find the right answers soon. I am sending huge cyberhugs

I feel so bad that this happened to you, especially your supervisor expecting you to come in right after getting released from the hospital. You need to have your doctor fill out FMLA paperwork (I believe your employer has to have 50 or more employees to be required to extend FMLA to employees) to protect you from any consequences due to your time missed from work due ...

I'm with you; no more scary stories. I go in in 7 days, too. Let's both hope and pray we are the lucky ones who sail right through this without a hitch. That's my plan and I'm sticking to it.

I had a RALSH, so my recovery is very different, but I know many women were not allowed to lift for at least 6 weeks, and I imagine with your repairs and such, it'll be at least that long. The weight limit was 10lbs. Same time frame for vacuuming, sweeping, etc.
Did your doc give you any post-op paperwork with instructions? Did you explain your needing to know for...

Hi Duckwalker, I've had other symptoms I believe are attributed to adeno (I also have a few fibroids and a cyst that must be removed). But my other symptoms include fatigue, numbness and pain in my legs, and extreme nausea. I too am hoping that the surgery will eliminate these other symptoms.

I would go over that guys head. He has to have a boss that
may be more sympathetic. I would also contact the labor board and see if there isnt some law against that kind of intimidation. good luck.

I did not bleed at all after surgery. I had some minor discharge for a few weeks.
I understand that you are very nervous, I know I certainly was! It's scary and there's so much to think about. For me, the surgery and recovery were not nearly as bad as the fear beforehand.
You have come to a great place for support and information. Keep reading and ...

Hi Red!
I'm scheduled for Nov 24th too. My anxiety is increasing as each day passes. I had my pre-op blood work and chest xray today. My blood work is fine -- no surprise cancellations from that.
I'm 45 and will be having one of those new fancy ways (daVinci robot). I'm hoping my anxiety peaks soon -- and doesn't just keep increasing until Tuesday -- ...
