I've seen on here where some docs. have discussed with their patients the recalled instrument but that they have an alternative (don't know if that's always having to go vaginally.) I don't want my post to freak you out. But it really doesn't seem like because he has to go vaginally that that means he doesn't have experience with it. In other words, it doesn't seem to me that because he needs to go vaginally...

Hello youndandscared, I think it will make you feel better if you children are with you at home, your mom can come and help, and if she wants, or if you can take it let her spend a few nights at your house helping. They can absolutely do surgery if you are bleeding, as long as you are not anemic. I think you will want clean sheets, but I think scrubbing the walls is a bit extreme. Good luck, and God Bless, you will get alot of great advice on...

Keep cervix?

I'm with Jojo on this one. I am keeping mine even though I have had abnormal paps in the past. I haven't had an abnormal in a while, so I'm not too worried about that. I am more worried about the risk of problems with "support" and sexual issues. I am having mine cauterized to avoid the mini periods and my doc assures me that the majority of people do not have a problem with this not working. So, I think it is...

We're so alike! I rearranged my cabinets already! I put a roast and potatoes in today, my whole house smells yummy. I figured it will be my "last solid meal" I'm taking our rottweiller to get a spa treatment today at a doggie salon, so I don't have giant furballs rolling around the house. I know sure as I'm sitting here that when I get up and if I so much as see any shedding (we have hardwood floors)...

Only if you want him to:~) Me personally, I'm going to take advantage of peace to myself. I think it's better if they stay home and get good sleep because they'll need lots of energy to take care of us:~) I wonder if we can have laptops in the hospital so we can talk to our hystersisters? It's so helpful! I wish you the best with your LAVH! Prayers are with You!

Hi ~SL~, I know how you must be feeling. I was so scared that I just wanted to run and hide. I even tryed ignoring the thought of surgery... didn't work! At my pre-op I told my family doc how I was so freaked out and she gave me something to calm my nerves. Then after surgery, I felt like a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders! I could finnally stop all the worrying! Hang in there! This really is emotionally the roughest part while...

? should I keep my Cervix?
Published (2009-11-14 23:57:00)
I opted to keep mine. My doctor wasn't complaining because it is an easier surgery. If I had any risk factors for cervical cancer I would have had it removed. I'm wary of an insurance company that says you have to. That doesn't seem right to me.

I know that a lot of doctors do things differently. I had to do the bowel prep before and wasn't really thrilled about it before but now realize it did help. My doctor wanted everything to be cleaned out because he wasn't sure how much he would have to remove(was excising the endometriosis) and also was worried about my uterus being too big to get out through the vagina. He had to stitch up a small tear in the vagina due to size of...

JoannieM,
I also asked my doctor for the same procedure. She told me that a study done that showed sexual benefits to keeping your cervix have not been able to be reproduced in subsequent studies. I prefer to keep as much of me as possible. I believe that perhaps knowing that my cervix is still attached will be a mental advantage....still have it so the pleasure...

They will take everything out through the vagina. My uterus was so big that they had to cut it into 3 pieces and then pulled it out. They had to make sure that none of the endo spread and in my op report it says that no endo was spread through the cavity. I had a vaginal cuff and so will you. I think those are the only stitches you will have. When I was in the ICU ...

Where I live your family can only come in with you while you are in pre op. The actual surgery they are not allowed. When I had my done my daughter and hubby were there. We got there at 7:30 in the morning. My surgery wasn't until 10:30. Once I got changed in pre op they were allowed to come back. Once I went to the OR they didn't see me again until I was in my room. ...

Mine have been haywire these last few days, but I know that I am making the right decision and I am sure that you are too. Just think, in a little while we will both be pain free!!! YEAH!!!

My pre-op told me that I did not shave my bikini area. If it needed to be shaved then they would do it while I was on the operating table but I was never shaved.

The worst that they are going to find with an ultrasound is that you have fibroids and need to have them treated. I am 5 weeks post hysterectomy (TAH) and had HUGE fibroids. I went along for years telling myself that I had no symptoms and therefore didn't need to do anything about the fibroids. Although the surgery and recovery have not been easy, I can tell you that...

Bulrich22 - you'll be fine...you won't feel like a man. You're not defined by your body parts and the biggest sex organ is your brain anyway. don't over think this...you'll be fine and you and your dbf will be fine.
My surgery is on 11/13....I'll be thinking good thoughts for you on the 10th.
Hugs all around.
