Before the lack of info happened... did you get any idea of the extent of her cancer? stage/grade? Perhaps the radiation was suggested more as a preventative than anything else...I think that if he is going to be involved taking her to the appts. then he should also be informed as to the why's and wherefores. I agree... if she is of sound mind, why doesn't your s/o just ask his mom on his own... Best to you during this time......

hi jjs...so sorry that you find yourself in such a situation. is your s/o's mom sound of mind, so that she can fill in her son as to results of diagnostic tests and pathology reports? i don't know why one of the sisters would want to keep a lid on any medical information, esp. since your s/o will be taking her for treatments...that is sad. i recently took my 83-yr. old dad for 30 daily radiation treatment for esophagus cancer. when...

Hello, Faith. So very glad to hear a good outcome arose from that trip to Fox Chase. I hope things will go smoothly for you with the draining, the insurance, and the followup on this visit. Your resilience is inspiring to us all. Very best wishes to you.

The 2A probably refers to the stage of the cancer. In Stage II endometrial cancer, the cancer has spread from the body of the uterus to the cervix, but the cancer has not spread to lymph nodes or distant sites. The "A" indicates that the cancer is in the body of the uterus and in the endocervical glands (glands that form the inner lining of the cervix). Stage IIA is less invasive than Stage IIB. The diagnosis should include...

You will probably get your answers on the Cancer Concerns posts. I sure am sorry you are going through this. I felt in my heart that I had ov/ca but my doctor didn't say anything to me about it in the hospital, other than the pathologist didn't think it was. I heard it when I went to my post op apt., which at least I had had some time to heal first. Hopefully your pathology report will be better than you think. Take care and I will...

Oh, I am heading to my preop Dec. 2, and surgery Dec.12. I am having a large cyst on my left ovary and a few smaller ones on my right ovary. Both sides hurt terrible from it. Can the Doctors have any idea if it is cancerous when they see it? Was wondering about the CA-125 test. Do all people take it prior to having cysts removed? Thanks for helping me find some answeres. Hello Everyone, It's been a very long time since I've posted here on Hystersisters so please bear with me. I am post-op 5 years and recently noticed that I am spotting. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this expierence? I don't see the doctor until the 10th and I haven't been able to find anything on the web as to why this may be occuring. Heck, for that matter I don't even know what could be bleeding. If you...

Before I head out to face the chaos of O'Hare airport tomorrow, I wanted to say thanks. When I think about what I'm thankful for this year, it's all of you. For the past year and a half, this forum of wonderful women has been a source of strength, comfort, inspiration, and many belly laughs as I've dealt with the daily and longer-term impact of hysterectomy and endo cancer. Hello. This is my first time posting on HysterSisters. 4 days ago, I went into surgery to remove a grapefruit size cyst on my ovary. I discovered it myself in early November when I was lying flat on my back and noticed something round and hard on my lower abdomen. I went to see an Obgyn who conducted an ultrasound, then had a CA 125 done (the result was 41). He then referred me to an ...

Why would you want to leave the hospital more quickly? Abdominal surgery leaves a fair amount of pain and discomfort. You won't want to jump up immediately after surgery and leave the hospital. That was my experience when I had a different, laproscopic, surgery. I was very much out of it for the first 20+ hours. Getting up, getting dressed, and going home was out of the question. All I ...

Rachel - I am sorry. It is good though, that your doc is on top of things, and that you won't have to tolerate any treatment that is not currently working! I agree with Faith- try a cancer research clinic - or at least get another opinion from another gyne/onc. I am becoming a big believer in getting lots of opinions!

I met with my gyn onc the day before my 4th chemo and 4th brachy. i asked point blank, How will you follow me after treatment is done? his response, "there really is no way to follow up" I said, that I find that hard to believe as I see many posts on hister sisters forum where ladies are being monitored regularly. I pushed again and did not get a definative answer. So, I will manage...
