retarding the timing is a way to slow down the engine. Lock the advance weights in a distributor and see how sprightly the car accelerates... Advance is best dealt with on a dyno, add till you stop gaining power, then back it off a comfortable safety margin. Less is wiser than more. Generally you don't want any more than you absolutely need.

Tony, what do you think of my ignition table? Cam comes in around 3000-3500 RPM so I wanted most of my advance coming in at that time. I think right now I'm at 35º total advance with my dizzy setup, but I feel like I can go more. My current idle advance is 15º and I can't get an idle lower than 1400RPM unless the motor is cold. With this cold weather, its starting to idle at lights at like 1700RPM I'm wanting 800RPM idle. It...

Of all the car stuff I have done in my life, bodywork is the one thing I never invested any time into. I really don't have the sculptors hands. However I do know how to hold a can of spray paint. The paint in this car is OK but it is flaking in the engine bay. I posted another thread about it. I was going to strip it off and repaint it. I decided to get the loose stuff off, and spray-can it as a temporary fix. So I got online, researched...

I don't know how you downed that entire muffin. I smelled it and my eye's began watering (I'm not exagerrating). I took a small taste and the flavor was unbelievably yummy, but it cost me more than 10 minutes use of my taste buds and a few tears
Good stuff John!

Old Datsun 4x4 truck if you want to stay in the Nissan family. I'm personally a huge fan of Toyota trucks, would be cool if you could snag a 1 ton dually.
