All the research that Ive done you cant use a chevy mounting kit with a ford. You might want to hit up guys like Braap, Johnc, Grumpyvette. Ive seen those guys one here for 10+ yrs and they have far more knowledge than I do and prob know the answers better than me. My advise, unless you have a good amount of disposable income building the perfect engine and perfect zcar wont happen. I thought that was what I was going to do. Arizona z car...

327 chevy stumbling problem

Just rotate the crank one revolution. Then the marks will be correct. Just joking. It doesn't matter whether the cam dot is at the top or bottom. The line may not be needed, but the nipple on the carb needs to be capped. Track down the line and see what it goes to. Does the keyway in the damper hub line up with the mark on the damper? jt

LT1 Hard start when cold
Published (2009-11-26 09:41:00)
I found this on a pontiac website: Coolant temp sensor can cause a problem if its not telling the PCM the engine is cold. As indicated in the post above, the PCM richens the A/F mixture for cold starts, the same way a "choke" richens the mixture on a carbed setup. If it only starts hard in cold weather, check the coolant temp sensor. If it always starts hard - cold weather or hot - it might still be related to the coolant...

Well I looked at the wiring today and totally forgot to look at which terminal it goes to on the alternator. Anyway, the thick white wire goes to the "s" terminal I believe (should be your main charge wire) and the small blue wire goes to one of the terminals that have a connector that go in the top (this gives you the correct effect on your gauge with the light, ie if the alternator isn't charging your voltmeter will...

Throwing this out in case you hadn't thought of it yet. How about finding a running donor vehicle for the initial conversion, which ever brand you would prefer in the long term, Chevy or Ford, as a test bed poewrtain to get the bugs ironed out of the V-8 of the conversion itself, ( Ford-Mustang, Thunderbird/Cougar, or Chevy-Caprice, pickup, etc ), while that is up and running and you are getting comfortable with and enjoying the mild V-8...

327 chevy stumbling problem
Published (2009-11-22 10:33:00)
UREKA i think i may have found the problem upon taking the timing cover off, after setting top dead centre with number 1 piston at the top using a wire through the plug hole, i removed the harmonic balancer and the key way was facing the one oclock position which is correct, once i removed the cover saw that the crankshaft 0 mark facing straight up which was also correct, but the camshaft mark was also facing straight up meaning that the...

Take a look at the temp sensor, the one that screws into the driver side head right above the number 1 plug. That sends info to the PCM and allows the PCM to send info IAC to the like a choke. Make sure your throttle plates are not set too tight. You should never have to push on the gas pedal to start these engines.

Trans X-member is bolted in, drive shaft needs to be cut to length, gear reduction starter, alternator wiring, exhaust, fuel and coolant plumbing are all that's left! Oh, and throttle linkage!
So excite!

I was getting a smidge over 28 on the highway with my 240. '95 LT1/T56, Hooker headers and exhaust, but otherwise stock, 3.90 gears, and 225/50/15 tires. Car weighed 2420 dry.

what transmission, converter stall speed and rear gear ratio are you matching that engine too?
is it a stock 700r4 like your thread suggests?
have you done a compression test?
you may be at a huge disadvantage using those cams as they are choking off a good deal of your potential hp if matched to some combos

why do you need stronger control arms and why do you need to upgrade the r200 diff?
both of these items are strong enough for most v8 applications.
