I never knew there were downtimes from Oct 5th to Nov 11th. Today seem to be resume to normal.. 10-15k is such headache but being shocked by the result of data rate for todays well over 500k instead 140-180k... Well thats explained for time beings since October....

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.2.14912/938; U; en) Presto/2.2.0) If your phone can't get GPS and you have the location settings on right and you've done battery pulls to restart. Then your phone is broken hardware wise or you need to reload the whole os. Are you sure the older version is saying no location at all?

The CC Communications network is now owned by ATN/Commnet. The former Alltel Reno switch is now run/owned by Verizon>? but us divested customers are still on it till we get moved to att, atn or whoever it is....

That does make more sense, and cost effective. Verizon seems to have the best covearge and as long as ATN can keep re-newing the contract to use Verizon towers, everything should be fine. However, the FCC is the controlling factor in all this, which is good, to let these other companies in, so a monopoly is not created, as well as keeping competition going, which I hope will keep prices down. Right now, it would be a struggle for me to pay...

It's been better but not too bad now: Alltel's latest prl 40057 was really bad so I went with Verizon's latest 51611 instead.

I am not sure why the number is showing related to CC communications because it isnt. The number is the backdoor to Alltel's Anypath voicemail system in Reno which serves Alltel (former WWC) customers in Nevada, California, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming & Idaho. The number has been in place for at least 7 years.

I wouldn't be so sure you will be charged roaming on Commnet. If the Billing ID ( BId) is the same here as somewhere AT allows use (via NID based on looking at Alltel's PRL), then you may get away with it. Best to wait and see.. Did Commnet put GSM there are well? Does that have the same issues?

I am. They shouldn't be able to bill you by the MB as long as you have an Alltel plan where data = minutes.

Has the fcc even approved this merger yet? I think the fcc and dojs requirement will come out once they approve it. I would expect they would go straight to '3g' because it would be easier to get the same coverage. They just finished the evdo 3g upgrade here and it would be a waste to just rip it out. It will be around for at least 3 years...

not sure why but I have not had an issue with my alltel service. I am in the same situation as your parents as that my alltel will not become Verizon. Anyone I have ever talked with has been great. I do not want to switch to Verizon so I am happy there to. As far as your parents....If people are calling from their cell phone...they should have long distance on it anyway....if it is ...

One thing you must keep in mind. Even tho ITS NOT a smart phone... YOU MUST HAVE A SMART CHOICE PLAN because it uses full html web. It costs the same as the diamond.. might as well go for the diamond.. Unles you are one of those few customers I get that are anti smart phone.

I have a couple of questions. Did you buy the Eris outright, no contract? Before you started the procedure above, did you use the VZW phone switch tool to change ESN's? How does the data work on prepaid? Are you officially VZW prepaid now?
