Astros have worst farm system...

I didn't realize that St. Louis' farm was getting so thin. They could be seriously boned if they don't resign Holliday.

"""The Phillies payroll isn't that much higher than ours. Their WS team actually cost less than our team last season.""" I don't know they want him to bat 2nd, but if they don't it sort of kills his niche.

I don't like Miller that much either, but I like him better. Thom Brennaman is a great play-by-play guy.

Astros have worst farm system...

According to the article, the entire NL Central except the Brewers and Pirates have horrible farms. It will be interesting to see if the Brewers and Pirates become strong in the division while the Cubs, Cardinals and possibly Astros use FA to win.

I think most will agree (not all - "teverde"), the Rockets are fun to watch this year. Plus are optimistic about the future.

Miggy

Tejeda is not there yet. He has had good years, but not good enough to get him in based on 12 seasons. If he doesn't slide too much in performance and plays five more seasons, then I think he has a legitimate shot.

OT: Brees
Published (2009-12-01 00:16:00)
If it comes down to the Saints and the Vikings, and New Orleans has their starting CBs back, with their guys tonight as backups.....they will pick Farve off left and right. Favre just throws it up for grabs too many times. Brees is a bad mo fo. A highly accurate, methodical, record-breaking, bad mo fo.

"hoping that the Astros do something other than sit and watch free agents get signed." The problem is that we've done too much signing the past years, and have too much money tied up in too few players.

Sadly, this has been true for some time nowand most likely will continue to be that way for a little while longer. A little while longer at best, I might add.

Sure. We've had players win that weren't the most deserving too.

It's a good idea to consolidate the discussions into one topic. It's also a good idea to discuss other teams' trades/acquisitions, too, since we've likely had our excitement for the offseason. I'm very frustrated that Wade has already announced that we're not going after any worthwile starting pitchers. We've all been through this a million times-- nobody expects to get Lackey, but everybody...

Can't say I'm sorry to say that he parted ways with TBS. Now let's just hope some other network does not hire him to be a baseball announcer.

I don't buy his "regrets transgressions" either. He just regrets getting caught.

Depending on the price, I would totally welcome a Polanco signing. He really doesn't walk a whole lot, but he does walk more than Miggy and doesn't ground into as many DPs, so it would be an upgrade there, and his glove at 2B and 3B is great. Depending on the price, it could be a nice move indeed. Bourn - CF Polanco - 3B Berkman - 1B Lee - LF Pence - RF Castro - C Matsui/Blum/Kepp - 2B ...

Dawson and Smith or Morris. Goosage paved the way for Smith I think the BBW will slap Alomar on the hand by not putting him in on a first year ballot. Maybe baseball will try to make it's peace with roids and put McGwire in? Maybe by 2012.

Interesting. It sort of kills the theory that we didn't score runs last season because we were bad with men on base. I wonder how the formula treats GIDPs though. For example, if one of our guys grounded into one with no outs, how does it count the lead runner?

He had Alabama playing Texas for it all. Florida will beat Alabama in the SEC Championship, and go on to beat Texas like the, good-but-not-great team they are. If Alabama pulls it off, they will easily beat Texas. Too bad Texas has such a cake-walk to the National Championship game.
