My kiddo's don't run around the tables, etc... But a toddler is only going to be so quiet and if you're setting next to us, she's likely to talk to you and "disturb" your otherwise peaceful dinner. If it bothers people, obviously I discourage her from speaking to them... but over all, I'm not going to tell my child to not be friendly and socialize with people. I don't feel the need to squash her...

I agree that Berryhill's is not a jungle gym, but the original comment was more sweeping than that. The patio is not for people to do anything "without kids crawling around". My kids aren't in the toddler range anymore, but I think a patio invites a looser approach toward children. No one wants a kid running around a table, but toddlers are going to run back and forth to that fountain. There's no way to stop...

Your tone was the source of my comment, not your class. Your post fairly cries out that you have never had children and will get a rough shock if you ever do. [/quote] You make many assumptions when you really don't know anything about me. QUOTE (darva @ Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 @ 1:41pm) That doesn't mean that I "passively parent" in any way. The word I used was...

William Wilson Mansion for sale!
Published (2008-11-27 22:37:00)
QUOTE (houstonray @ Thursday, November 27th, 2008 @ 9:39am) Anyone heard what's up with that? The gorgeous Woodland Heights "Wilson" home on Bayland Ave (205 Bayland for those wanting to look it up on HAR) is for sale. The owners just finished remodeling the former halfway house barely 2 years ago and were going to be there a long time and now they are selling. Also, $2.5 million seems a little...

House moving vs Demolition

Nice thought. I Moved my house . The building was of 1946 construction and remains 55 long by 34 wide. The structure weighed some 225 tons (450,000#), roughly half a million pounds, the two story, brick veneer structure had to be moved some 165 from its original lot to another contiguous property and raised some 20 higher than it had been. here is the picture of this move. QUOTE (THElibrarian @ Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 @ 4:06pm) This is why we stopped going to Berryhill. If you want your kids to "go nuts" I suggest you take them to McDonalds or Chik-fil-A. The patio at Berryhill is for people to enjoy their meal and drinks without kids crawling around. Last time we went there, we were joking that they should just put in one of those cages with the colorful balls. There...

Good Afternoon All, hope your week goes well! Just seeking some ideas, opinions, or input for those with and without kids. What are some kid/toddler friendly restaurants with above average food in the Heights ? Does this debate now lead to the question Inner City vs Suburbs ? Are there a lot more kid/toddler friendly restaurants and places in the suburbs as oppose to the inner city ? Is this why many with kids leave for the suburbs to...

QUOTE (THElibrarian @ Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 @ 12:14pm) Wow, from the responses I'm getting I guess that it is now acceptable let children run around restaurants while other patrons are dining. I'm seeing this permissive parenting style more and more often. I just wasn't raised that way. While in a restaurant, we sat at the table and ate. We were not allowed to "run around." You need...

QUOTE (tanith27 @ Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 @ 9:55am) I went to Bedford this past weekend. Very nice. Entrees about $30 each, but you can get 3 and 4 course meals where you can make your own from the list of appy's/entrees/desserts on the menu. Quality is A+, quantity is minimal. Dont expect to walk away from there with a full stomach....heck, you might even walk away hungry. My $30 entree was...

The new project on Studewood next to Glasswall has a huge STOP WORK order stapled on it. The notice reads something along the line of ...project violates lot size and parking requirements. Does anyone have any more info? How does the City issue a permit without considering these issues first?

Hey everyone;Had a question I've been wondering. We're thinking of buying some land in the country in the next year or two for a weekend place and eventually a retirement place and came up with what we thought was a great idea. Instead of building a new house on there, we wondered about houses that were scheduled to be demolished? If a developer buys a lot with a bungalow on it that he's going ...

My last Heights thread went south quickly , but I'm going to try again, with a less ambitious topic: Can anyone recommend a good dry cleaner in the Heights? I know there's a lot of them - choosing among the dozen close to me has always been my problem. I'm personally looking for somewhere that does a good job with suits, but no need to limit your recommendations to those based on suit-...

Well we've only lived in Woodland Heights for 6 mths and Last Friday they got us. They entered the backyard and then our divided garage and kicked in the wall from the extra room to the garage and proceeded to take, tools, lawn equipment, mower, bicycle. I go home for lunch and they must have seen me leave. Luckily our house is safe but everything is gone! Just thought I would mention it...

So I live on Waverly St, one block over from the Nicholson Hike and Bike trail, and I just have to ask if anyone knows....what is going to happen to all those folks whose garage front to Nicholson? I mean they dont own the land the trail is on, and surely the city is not going to allow them to be backing a car out onto a hiking or biking trail to get back to the street? I can see lawsuits...

I haven't ever been to an HHA meeting, and am thinking about going to the next one, which is described below (yay St. Arnold's). I'll probably see if any friends in the neighborhood are interested in going with me, and thought I'd check here as well. Was thinking we could meet for a drink before or after. Who knows, maybe it will become a regular thing - for now, though, I was just ...
