More rental madness. Just up on Rightmove - a 3 bed terrace house just off the Cowley road - yours for just £3,300 PCM. http://www.rightmove...minBedrooms%3D3 Even in much of north Oxford that would be overpriced, but in vomit-strewn east-oxford this is pure fantasy. Must be another deluded BTLer assuming that mortgage repayments + desired profit = market rental rate.

I must say I am very happy in Jericho :-) I have just started renting a 3 bed house in central Jericho with off street parking and a garden for less than £1000 pcm ! Why on earth would I buy when I can rent so cheaply with no risk? This property has recently been discounted from £1,375 to £1,000 pcm http://www.rightmove...y-26942888.html If rents continue to drop, what does this mean for house prices? Do people really think they...

Do you think £50k for a bedsit is a bargain - I guess that's all about conditioning. I would regard a three-bed house at this price a bargain! Its not about conditioning its what I can afford. Thats if I can get together 5K as a deposit and have...

I wonder if the houses on Old Fort Road are coming down to reasonable prices yet (beach side). What did they sell for at the height of the boom?

QUOTE (Fedup @ May 20 2009, 11:42 AM) As far as I can see, prices in Maidstone are ridiculously high, with tiny "3 bed" semis with paper thin walls going for £180-200k still, and rents for such places being roughly £900. I realise not everywhere will crash at the same rate or amount, so is Maidstone one of those places? If so, why? It still takes an hour to get to London by train ...

The best rule of thumb for any estate in MK is to avoid any estate with a straight roads, take a look on Google Maps and you'll see what I mean. The less attractive estates, Fishermead, Netherfield, Beanhill etc all have straight roads, the better estates are more thoughtfully, aesthetically set out.

I had a call from an EA the other day about a property that was on the market for £450,000. He told me that they'd consider offers 50K below that and "to ignore the asking price", which was interesting.... I suppose what we're seeing mostly is just a lack of movement, precisely because people aren't dropping their asking prices.
