Unless you KNOW you have
contaminated it somehow like oil got spilled on it, don't clean it with anything. Filler will soak up anything you apply to it and it is NOT necessary to clean it prior to primer.

Sounds like what happens with a clump of primer dust or
piece of dirt gets caught in the sandpaper by accident. Your sanding with say 600 grit but have a tiny piece of 240 size junk stuck into the paper. Not enough water used or the paper not kept clean, it leaves a random scratch that won't initially be seen( or even looked for since you are sanding with a finer grit) until it is top coated.

Gas charged cylinders are the way to go. Super simple to adapt. I am not at home so don't have access to my picture files but the whole key to making the gas lifts to work is where you mount the ends. For the ones I used on my Willys I took the cylinder end mounts (ball studs) and the cylinders from a Chevy Vega (

First, do all wetsanding in
one direction. Finish with either 2500 or 3000. Compound it with Meguair's Soft Buff 2.0 burgundy pad with M105 ultracut. Finish the polishing with Megs white pad and M205 or 3M swirl mark remover for dark cars. Those spider webs are more than likely from buffing with wool. They might come out with polish, but you'll more than likely have to return to compounding ...
