Out of those listed, I went with David Cronenberg. His stuff tends to be the most impressive overall. If there was an "Other" option, I would've went with Ridley Scott. I know he's not technically a "horror" director, but I think he's the greatest working today and I don't think any horror flick can come close to how mindblowing Alien was in its day.

My favorite was Friday the 13th Part VIII. But I think the best of the year was clearly Warlock. I also want to make sure to put in a good word for After Midnight. I thought that movie was quite good. Haven't seen I, Madman yet. Is that DVD supposed to be fullscreen or is that an MGM fuck-up?

I'm kind of torn between Suspiria and Rabid. Because they're such radically different styles. I usually go more for the surreal, colorful, artsy approach. But Rabid was a sci-fi / horror hybrid that impressed me and that doesn't happen very often, plus it was gritty and not very stylish at all, and again, that's not my thing.
