I added an additional brake/strobing led tail light (12volt input)to mine 2 days ago. No problem tapping dirctly...

The size amp that you will use for the motorcycle will not cause any
problems for the charging system but I wouldn't leave it on for a long
period without the bike running.

That would have been my guess too. If you checked your
polarity and it was right there isn't much else it could be unless there was a short in your socket of course. Glad you got it figured out.

I bought one similar to that one that plugs into the Garmin cradle. I actually bought four because none of them worked. They either were dead shorts or no power at all. It was actually THIS ONE.
They even sent me one for the USB by mistake that did not work.
I then bought one made by
Glisson that actually worked from Amazon.com

I've got a really nice Sony head unit for sale (still)....No automatic volume controls or anything like that though...Just a big knob on the faceplate...It has a stereo 3.5mm(1/8") jack on the front for hooking up a Sirius/XM, or ipod....But shipping
across the border is very expensive and a major pain in the backside...If you know somebody in the states that you could have it shipped to, it ...
