Thanks. I guess there would be no easy way to test what's in there now? Probably not worth the time, I just don't want to screw up my machine.

Oil

Wow. Most folks move to synthetic oil these days. Likely the previous owner did as well. I would suggest going to synthetic. There are several threads on this site discussion which oil to use. There are several opinions out there. I have been using Repsol.

919 Instrument Cluster

What about trying a 2006-08 599 cluster i think it might look better since it was designed to be used with a naked sport and it has the cool digital readout and the rpm gauge like Just a thought.

Hello to all from a newby with...

There is a bazillion threads on oil but in short. 1) no it will not "damage" the engine. There is a ton of arguments on which is best and if synthetic is that but better etc. but only a few loons would think that it could be damaged. 2) a good quality motorcycle oil is a minimum. Certainly if you want to the Honda oil is at worst adequate. I run Motul 300V in mine but that is expensive and not for everyone.

919 windsreen?
Published (2009-11-04 22:48:00)
hello guys (and gals) I am very new to the Honda street bike scene. I've been riding Harleys for 20 years and riding/racing dirtbikes longer than that. I'm 40 yrs old and just bought an 07' 919. I'm really digging this bike and wish I had started riding one a long time ago. My question, which may seem dumb to some of you, is this...........will a Givi windscreen really help that much on this bike? I just ordered one today...

on going with the synthetic as it is better to switch and be right then to go back to petroleum based and be wrong...

0-60 on the 919
Published (2009-11-07 07:37:00)
This question is just theoretical. How does one achieve the fastest 0-60 time on a 919? Is it just open the throttle in 1st to redline, and then a quick shift to second to go from ~55-60? Anybody knows what the true tested 0-60 time is? I'm not about to race or anything. I'm just curious so I can brag about my bike and lack of ability to use it's full potential

919 SUBFRAME COMPARISON
Published (2009-11-10 23:03:00)
I am wondering if anyone knows if an 06' 919 subframe is the same as any other subframe from honda? Such as maybe a 900RR or f4 even... OR... is the subframe the 919 has been blessed with exclusive to the 919? I have talked to a couple of dealerships and apparently only confuse them. My goal is to change my entire tail section preferrably to a one piece sharkskin w/ foam seat and all..WooHoo any ideas or info are greatly appreciated.

I have a Givi windscreen. I can say that after i saw it on my bike i like the factory screen a little more. But I could only see the Givi windscreen to be used when it was really cold or if I was on a long trip. But the bike just looks better without it, in my opinion. It sucks that they cost so much. Hope it works for you though

Do not use car oil. It contains Moly and will damage your clutch. Also, if synthetic oil has been run in the bike, it is not wise to go back to petroleum based oil.

It has been done a few times over on Wristtwisters.com Also BMiller is selling a 919 under the For Sale section, and he did an F4i swap as well. Takes an adaptor and a few other parts, but not to hard to do.

I am going to go with the respring and valves but best of luck on your swap. I wish I had the balls, skill and cash to do the swap myself. I think the best reason for the swap is looks. It seems shallow but damn it looks good. It may even be bad for handlimng as it can overwhelm the square backbone frame but I would not care. Radial brakes would be cool but a huge .50mm pair of WP's would be ...
