Ok I ordered that part and the pilot faceplate to complete the aesthetic. Is there a certain setting on the iPod video funtion that needs to be enabled? I had a friends 5.5gen working upon install but can't get my "fatboy" nano to link video. I'm going to go search the annals of avec411 now but just wondering if anybody knew off the top of their head. Thanks for the help! And feel free to DM, I feel bad for bumping...

Hey! For $77 I love it! As for repeats I don't have any issue with that. There is so many channels! I have a love all types of music and talk radio. I like the weather station. If you have an issue with hearing the same songs change the station. You have 170 to pick from.

I think what confuses me, is the set of RCA pre outs on the back (which seem to be able to be toggled from HBF to LBF will go straight to the sub, but won't I get distortion if I then run the speaker signal through the harness? What happens when amplified sources hit the amp? And what is "Bus in"?

Hey BigAl, my Pioneer Harness has an amplifier remote wire (blue/white) ONLY. Somewhere on another thread I read that the wire from some head units are power the antenna AND amp, but now I can't find the thread. Please let me know what you think...or probably know already :)

I've come to the conclusion that the antenna adapter is not needed for the 2008 Honda Element LX. I've installed it and connected the blue/white cable from the harness to the blue/white cable on the JVC and FM reception is perfect. Even picks up HD stations and AM stations just fine.

Radio/Aux Power

There is another way in which to have your radio stay on while cranking. At your ignition harness, the are a number of different wires for different purposes. 12v Constant: it's a constant 12v line Started: it gets 12v only when you are cranking the starter Ignition: it gets 12v while the key is on, and while cranking Accessory 1: it gets 12v while key is on, shuts off while cranking Accessory 2: same as Accessory 1. A typical radio is...

Yes, it will fit. The Clarion is just a standard DIN size unit.
You'll need one of the kits listed at the top of this link with a storage pocket underneath
http://www.installer.com/cars/by_car.php?carid=266 9
As well as the normal installation stuff (harness, antenna adapter, etc...)

Hi...I have an 2008 E LX and I bought a JVC head unit from crutchfield. They included an antenna adapter like the one pictured below:
I couldn't figure out how to plug it in so i just ignored and and plugged in the normal factory antenna to the back of the JVC head unit. The FM reception is OK (not great) but now I have no AM reception. Anybody know how to fix this?

I didn't have to cut anything to install the polks in my sig. I did however have to mount them upside down to keep the leads from shorting on the chassis. IMO it makes more sense to get the right speakers than to cut.
Happy modding.

Good suggestions. I'm working on a new FAQ.
Since the Pioneer has front, rear and sub outputs, you can just hook up to
the factory amp. The difference between the amp in the head unit and the
factory amp is a toss of the coin. They're equivalent for the mains. Using
the factory amp will set you up better for adding on bigger amps in the
future. You'll already have the RCA outs on your deck ready...

GREAT job on the install and the pilot kit!!! I will have to order that kit when I do mine. Just put the D3 in my wife Ody and it is really a nice unit. Did you add any of the acessorries? I put in Sirius, bluetooth, ipod interface cable, and the pac steering wheel interface, and a backup camera. Very nice HU to add things to. Drew

I just did it yesterday. I just call whatever number there is on the expiration letter they send me. Then I tell the sales person to connect me to the cancellation department and tell them I cannot afford the 12.95 per month, but if I could get the $77 per year again, I would pay it right then and there for an entire year. Works every time.
Been paying $77 per year the last 4 years.
