Yes! It's not just the first change, either--you should follow the MM for all the changes, as the manual states. (The manual also states that if your "orange wrench" doesn't come on after one year, do an oil change anyway.) My first oil change was a little over 10K, and my second was at about 9K. Cars, oil, and engine technology has changed at great deal since back in the day, and many ...

I haven't changed my transmission oil since I bought the car, and I was wondering when I have to change... I have 21,000 km mileage, and according to the manual book, the recommended change milage was at 86,000. But when I went to the mechanics to change my Engine Oil, they told me I have to change my Transmission oil every 20,000 km... I would really appreciate it if you guys could...

I am in the dealer service waiting room right now. My 2008 CR-V has 10,228 miles on it and the maintenance minder says 5%. I am really disappointed that the service manager was trying to tell me that the maintenance minder is for things other than oil changes and that I could be ruining the engine because I didn't bring it in at 5,000 "like I was supposed to." I told him that he should check the...

Hi all, New owner of a 08' EX 2WD here. I have found this forum really helpful for answering V's little questions, but now I have a few that I can't seem to find when searching here and in my owners book. They have to do about when to change fluids, the mileage I mean. Now I understand about the MM telling me when to change oil and I have no questions about that (thanks to the other...

Serious question! I have a 2000 CRV, with 120k miles and has been pretty well maintained. I never see them with high milage - when do they generally call it quits? I've owned a few Mazda Protege-type cars, and they all seem to make it to 200k without any major problems. I realize this is a very subjective question, and you can keep anything running as long as you replace parts, but I'm more ...

Ok, just took my 2000 CRV in for the 90,000 mile service. Actually mileage is a little less than 89,000. Got the call that the tech is recommending a timing belt. Funny thing is that the advisor said, "You haven't had that done yet have you?" They are also running a deal of $50 off thru July. Makes me wonder if it really needs to be done yet. I thought it was recommended at around 105,000....

Ok here is the deal, I dont own a crv but my very good friend does and she needs to replace her serpentine belt. I told her I would do it so she could save some money. I am kind of the mechanic that all my friends go to to do work on their cars. I quickly glanced under the hood of her 2001 2wd cr-v today and boy is it cramped and tight under there. Do I need to remove anything major to get to ...

I have one headlight that is slightly out of alignment and not sure how to do it. I checked the manual and of course it said to have the dealer do it. I'm sure its not that difficult, so how do you do it and is there a specific tool I need?

I've read all the threads about oil change but please bear with me and answer my specific question. Over many decades of owning various vehicles I've always changed the engine oil and filter every 2000 miles. I know, I know it is expensive and I don't have to do it. But I want to. The resulting interior passageways in the engines have been so clean you can eat off of them (although I don't ...

I'm the third owner of a 2002 CR-V, and have had it for about 3 weeks. It has 130k miles and so far it's been an awesome car. I drove it to school this morning with no problems. In the afternoon I got in and started it up, and it seemed to be very shaky in idle. Strange. I thought of it as nothing, and backed out and started off and everything seemed fine, the shaking subsided. Then, coming ...
