Bowing is a sign of respect in many cultures. His bowing was showing that he felt respect for them and that they were his equal. I have no problem with that. As an American woman, walking 10 paces behind my husband, and stifling my opinions as not acceptable here. It is not our culture, so shame on Laura.

I don't give it that much thought. If they say "happy national pickle week", I'm good with it. You don't have to be a pickle lover to have a happy national pickle week. Perhaps we should just look at it that way, instead of assuming the other person is a dolt. They're just trying to be nice. It's a gift. Say "thank you".

I read the story but couldn't bring myself to watch the video. I really agree with Buddy here - mob mentality scares the daylights out of me. I truly wonder how some people get up and look in the mirror each morning.
